I got put on suspension for a pretty stupid topic, not offensive (well, I didn't think so but I'm not arguing that), but just inappropriate
I don't want to have a go at the moderators as they do a great job, but I've noticed since the suspension that I've actually put some thought into my posts and threads, so it was probably a good think
The reason I bring it up is I wondered if anyone here has had the same experience?

Nope, never had any moderator trouble.
I think it's because I'm so darned handsome.

Do you think it's because of fear of having the mark against your name, or are you one of those rare people on the internet who thinks about things before you say them?

All the people I know wear suspensions and penalties like a badge of honor. I can't say I've ever had trouble with mods (on any forums... obviously I haven't had much of a chance to cause mayhem here).
I think it's because Baby Tea is so darned handsome.

I'm very glad you've learned from your experience, thats fantastic news that you're able to mature from being suspended and continue to contribute positively to the Escapist community.

I myself have never run into any moderator trouble and hope I never do, it would be embarassing for me for all the people I consider friends on here to see me get in trouble...

Before I post anything, I think to myself, "Could this get me banned?" if the answer is "yes" I ask myself, "Would it be worth it?"

So far, the answer has always been no.

Apologies, but I don't get into a lot of trouble.

I have the exact same method. This website is great because it's a place for healthy debate. If you have an opinion, I believe that there is almost always a non-offensive way to state it. If someone gets in trouble, it's their own fault for not thinking about what they write.

Never put on probation or the like, I do tend to think about my post before posting it.

Yeah, the post that got me into trouble was just a daft idea, and I was mightly annoyed when I got the suspension notice

I think this is probably the best way to think about it, just sometimes the answer is yes to both, but if it's just an opinion I don't think you should get punished for an opinion, just be careful about how you word it

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that, but we all know I'm the most handsome one here... ;)

OT, I've never had any moderator trouble, so I'm clear. I've been a bit wary at times though, so it's always good to post something that you've thought long and hard about anyway, so we can all benefit from a better and more interesting and possibly intellectual community.

I was moderated once. Not my proudest moment. I deserved the 3 day suspension, though.

Since then, I try not to be stupid.

We all dream of the day when the internet is full of intelligent conversation. Though when it happens I think space and time will collapse on itself

Its normally pretty easy to see the ban hammer coming, so I steer clear of those threads, as for posting, I don't post if I think a particular group of people are likely to take offense (except fanboys of game x, y, z etc! They aren't real people so who cares.).

I've never been on the recieving end of any form of moderator wrath, I think over what I'm saying and read through it before hitting post.
