Half Life: There really is no decomposition of radioactive isotopes that have anything to do with the game.

Half Life 2 doesn't though.

Half-Life 2 does have radioactive waste in it. In one of the sections you have to go around destroyed building #172 and you need to traverse water using the gravity gun...radioactive water.

I just assumed it was toxic, corrosive sludge - there's no effects from being near it, so nothing's radiating off it.

Oh, I forgot - In Episode 1 though there is definitely radiation when you go into the citadel core. Not in Episode 2 though, funnily enough.

Well your geiger counter does go haywire like a sugar filled 8 year old when you enter that room. So something must have been radioactive. BUUUUUUUUUUUUT, no body is actually tracking that radioactivity to determine the age of a certain object.
