Cool! This does look pretty sweet. AoM is a strategy that definitely needs more recongition. Can't wait to come back to Arkantos with glourious enhanced visuals.

I am a bit sceptical, however. We know how the AoE II re-release was. However, it does look like this time could be different. I hope so.

Meh. I actually hoped there would be a AoM 2 when reading the title. Paying 22? for the same game i have sitting in a shelf with barely shinier graphics? Count me out. Maybe when it's for sale at 10?.

We'll in celebration of this I think ill go home and fire up my copy of Titan Quest. As much as I enjoyed Age of Mythology, I actually liked the ARPG version of itself better. My only gripe is I wish they would have included a Norse level.

its all nice and dandy dont get me wrong but... 30 bucks for a 10 year old game? 20 would be much more reasonable, 25 would be pushing it

Hopefully they do the same thing they did with Age of Empires 2; An almost direct port of a game from 1999, bugs and all, and the only real new feature was removing LAN support.

But in all seriousness, Im hyped for this. Age of Mythology was one of the few RTS's with an engaging campaign mode due to both its gameplay and its story. Plus, I want to relive the glory days of my laser crocodiles again.

Still have the gold edition discs and I don't like multiplayer. Don't feel particularly like paying $20 for "improved water", lightening and day-to-night effects. I know a guy who's a huge fan of the multiplayer though and he's already preordered, so I'm sure there will be an enthusiastic audience for this, and good for them.

what if they added advanced fish AI?

the only thing that really catches my attention here is steam workshop support, i always love when games do that, you basically get free DLC forever

Age of Mythology was the game of my childhood.
I can't imagine the number of hours I sunk into that game. It was a LOT.

I even use a character from it as my avatar here.

Holly shit, this is one of my favorite games and I do like some of the new features, but this game is $32 in my region right now and $40 if I don't pre-order... for a 12 year old fucking game, are they completely fucking insane!?

So I guess this will go on my christmas shopping list.

Because their (or at least my) discs are both ancient and too damaged for me to re-install the game?

I would caution people not to buy this game. It looks the same as the Age of Empires 2 HD scam, where they just took the original game, slapped on the fan-made high resolution mod and then sold it at full price. The only difference with the game was that they somehow managed to make a 1999 title run at 10 fps on modern CPUs without changing a single thing (not AI, not graphics, nothing).
This looks like the exact same scam, and I can see from this thread there are many suckers lining up to pay.

Probably shouldn't recommend that last one. Not sure, though.

One of the nice things about stores here is their tendency to group a lot of good old games together and give them some pretty generous discounts. Most of the games I pick up are from those areas, or the little collections at supermarkets. It doesn't make sense to pick up a new game of questionable quality for full price when you could get two or more older ones that you know are good for the same price or less.

Awwr, a HD remake? I was playing Age of Mythology earlier this week, I don't need some remake, that's real disappointing. I was really hoping for a sequel.

It's £18.39 on pre-order sale right now. Now consider that I probably paid more than that when it was new. And now consider that my physical copy does not work properly any more because I play it so much the disk is slowly corrupting. Also I just got paid last week.

God I'm dumb, why am I typing all this when I could be on Steam right now giving them my money.

3) Why get saddled with DRM when you can have a game that already has excellent MP (over LAN but who wants to play online anyway)
I'm fairly excited for it because I'll get to play it with my girlfriend and won't have to bother going through much of a trouble in the process. Just simply inviting her on Steam and hopping in. No need to get mods, which she has trouble understanding at times even with my help, and we can't play over LAN anyways.

this. i mean what kind of statement is that "but who wants to play online anyways). like are even real. of fucking course i want to p[lay online. It's not like I get get a Lan Party going every time i want to play AoM with other people. Hell i dont even now that many people who would get together in a LAN party just for 1 game.

Was my version of AoM significantly different than you peoples'?
I distinctly remember playing AoM online versus people in other countries, so where is this "no online mp" coming from?
