*read**read* *blink**blink*...

Ahhahahahahahahahahahah, man that's f**kin' hilarious. its like the answer to my prayers, I've been waiting for something to come along & give those BBFC & PEGI bureaucrats some grief. i'm just wondering if i actually could get away with exploiting this, cos the guys at my local game store are pretty damn strict about the whole age rating thing.

What can this possibly have to do with the difference between Pegi and the bbfc? I mean its 25 years old, 25 years ago you didnt exactly have 18 games.

And I believe the BBFC is legally enforcable, whereas PEGI is a guideline. Not sure if that's fully true or not.
Its true. I live in the U.K
Same here, just wasn't 100% sure :)

I wonder how relevant this is, considering that I remember games like Grand Theft Auto came with a standard BBFC '18' rating, exactly the same as an '18' movie. It seemed any game worthy of an 18 rating, got the legal movie style rating, whereas anything under 18 levels of violence/sweariness etc got the PEGI 'guidance' ratings.

I'm assuming the BBFC ratings are still valid, right?

EDIT: seems not, I thought it was just the PEGI ratings made invalid... so everything's fair game for any kid now right?

I still bet the vast majority of stores won't be selling Saw box sets to 5 year olds however, that's just begging to be featured as a Daily Mail headline on the decline on society, and the bad press isn't worth a few quid extra profit.
