The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement or ACTA, is basically this:

A treaty that (if it get's picked up that is) will allow strong copyright proctection laws to be enforced in developed countries. And would allow peoples laptops, mp3 players, iPods and mobile phones to be checked for un-authorised copyrighted material.

It also would require ISPs to disclose customer info, restrict the use of online privacy tools and allow files sharers to be more easily sued and P2P or BitTorrent sites to be shutdown.

First is a link basically saying what it is, but not much else.

Second link is the Wikileaks page which goes into greater detail.

Third is the Wikipdia page which elaborates further and provides some more links.

My first thought on this is...well, if you aren't in possession of such content, then you aren't doing anything wrong right? However, it also seems to indicate an intent to criminalise P2P sharing altogether even it's legal use. However...even for myself, I've rarely used services such as Limewire for legal purposes. Mostly for getting tracks that I may have lost aat some point, although I realise that is still a weak justification.
