Aion looks good, but as a die-hard addict WoW player i am sorry to say that even though this game looks good i just dont think it's gonna make the WoW lightning strike again, no matter how much u WoW haters want it to just to see the game knocked down a peg, but with Blizz just releasing Patch 3.2 Call of the Crusade(normal 5 man welfare epic farming ftw bitches!!!) and with Icecrown Citidel on the way in 3.3, which will probably be the most epic patch...ever, not to mention there are rumors flying around about Blizzard announcing a new expansion pack for WoW at Blizzcon later this month slated for a mid-late 2010 release date, i just don't see how this is gonna make that big a dent in Blizz's american market share, being that it is Ncsoft, i can see the posibility of WoW maybe losing some of it's market share in Asia but reall don't think it's gonna matter. give me your opinions on this.

I'm going to buy Aion when it comes out, i'm a recovering WoW-o-holic, and i think this will make up for my thirst in MMORPG

I love WoW, and I'm going to be buying Aion to just stand around and look at the pretties.

Maybe I'll even play it.

I don't see it being made as a wow killer, more as a thing people can buy when they don't want to play wow.

A Blizzard employee hinted that they are working on another MMO too... he even went so far as to say that they suspect it will outsell WoW... I doubt Aion will scratch WoW... but whatever Blizz has in the making is sure to be the only thing that's likely to do such a feat... of course my money is riding on it being popular but not outselling WoW... since WoW is already an established super power in the MMO community...

just my 2 cents... but everything i've seen about Aion points to rather a rather generic mmorpg... but, that's just my opinion based on a casual examination of the game, I've not really extensively researched Aion... y'know...
/end rambling

WoW is probably just too big a juggernaut to be brought down. Seriously, how many people do you think will put down a game that they have devoted their lives to in order to just start all over again. Seriously, unless you have some kind of seriously messed up situation or reputation in WoW I really wouldn't see the point of starting it all over again.

Plenty of room for both of them to exist. Just because they are both mmo's doesn't mean they target the exact same people. Aion already has it's niche overseas and it will definitely find one here in the states as well.

Thanks for telling us. I play WoW as well, and I like it, I'd like it more if they didn't keep lowering mount costs/requirements, but oh well. Can't help but wonder if EverQuest players said the same thing about WoW though.

I honestly don't even care about wow anymore I wasted 6 months of my life playing that game, and I am ashamed to even admit it now.
If you honestly love it so much you shouldn't feel the need to defend it like this without prompting.
It's very likely that I will never personally play any game again that requires the payment of a monthly fee.
...and that is thanks in large part to WoW... but I don't mean that in a positive way at all.
Aion may very well be a good game, but you're probably right, the "lightning" won't strike again. You guys are all already addicted to WoW, it consumes a large portion of your life.
I honestly hope some of you come to realize how damaging that game has become and how it's specifically designed to suck up as much of your time and life as possible.
I really do, but I doubt it's going to happen.

Aion does look very nice, for me the deal is pretty much set but there are a few factors if AION has seperate EU/US servers or not, just how many of my former wow guildies do go to AION or not and if Blizzard decides to release info on their new "next gen MMORPG" at the next blizzcon. Either way Ill probably go to AION been wanting a decent MMO for a year now and WoW got very stale once my guild quit 4 years of raiding together was about all that kept most of us playing.

They both look like bland, monotonous grind fests, although the art direction in Aion looks much better than WoW's. The only MMO I think looks any good at all is TOR.
