I believe some people have. I haven't because I'm trying to avoid the lure of MMOs for a while.
Anyone want to inform me of what it's like?

Might as well Bump this 3 day old thread.
I was very happy today to see that my Beta Key has come through.
I shall be playing the game for around 8-16 hours on the 31st before i am whisked away to see my girlfriend.
Regardless i shall write a small review for you all in comparison to World of Warcraft and explaining the joy of the game.

Aion Review
If Aion was a person and that person asked me to shit a brick I wouldn?t just shit out a brick I?d most likely shit out a house.
Aion has really caught me by surprise and even though I spent weeks and weeks blagging on and on about how it was going to be amazing, and that it would smash the other of all pasties that have ever been conceived, I never truly meant it.
Oh yes lets point the finger and call me a liar but in all honesty I expected Aion to be as interesting as the Ocean Finance channel. I didn?t see it competing with WoW because even though I look back at those grey days of solitude and loneliness, my own mistake of course, I know that WoW did something good to make me want to play it.
Regardless of this I have had to prow my fingers off the beer stained keyboard to write a quick review that I promised most people I spoke to about this beta.
As I loaded up, logged in and chose the server and then got to a lovely character customization page. This has everything from eyebrow size, angle, width, height, depth, foreign exchange, decay, hygiene and weight. Its incredible how much time they have put into something that can be so personal or can be a complete turn-off for gamers who just want to get some cyber. Me on the otherhand was thrilled that I could create a stunningly beautiful woman that looked like one of the vampires from Van Helsing. After this i was immediately faced with a stunningly beautiful cutscene that made me immediately click Esc because I couldn?t give 2 shallow shits about how well you can cgi, I?m more concerned with the programming.
So you can imagine, its 2 minutes after the beta is launched and crunch crunch crunch everyone is there at the starting quest giver trying to get to level 2 first. In spite of this I had a little nose at the brilliance of the entire place. It looks lovely and even with my computer I can say that I would rather sleep with my character in Aion than Jaina Proudmore, don?t kill me lads. Its uncanny how they?ve been able to use a Lineage engine to create such a visually stunning game, I can?t wait to see it on a mega computer and see all the shining pixels.
Anyway, went a little offtopic there orgasming over the bright lights, the UI of Aion is generally the same as World of Warcraft, Runescape, Lineage, Kitty Island adventure and Pokemon Snap. You have a portrait, actionbars (Button bars in Aion), a mini map and another little clicky button thing for the main menu. One thing that shocked me though was how everything, besides the quests, were at the bottom. Everything was squished at the bottom so you had a full horizontal view of things going on around you. I found it a lot easier to space things out on the screen then I have done in WoW. Oh I forgot to mention, you can move different things around like your profile sheet, inventory and your quest log. (No add-ons for that eh?)
In regards to gameplay its quite slow but not in a bad way. At first I was like ?OH COMMON GLOBAL COOLDOWN!? but then it started to grow on me. These magicians/rogues etc couldn?t use an ability at precisely the moment you finished another and in a way its better than way because its less realistic. I don?t see you being able to do the London Marathon then cook brownies for everyone else? This slowness inevitably did get me killed but after a while I became so fond and used to the way things worked that I could see myself PvPing in this fashion. With unavoidable, meaning you have to cast them, chain moves and well timed pulling things were very smooth. My only quarrells at this moment in time is the balance of classes. See I used a sorcerer as my first character whereas a person I was speaking to whilst playing was a scout, both for the first time. So we were talking and he was telling me that he was continually dying on certain quests that I was able to smash through. Part of me did wonder whether he was an actual idiot, he used to play a DeathKnight in World of Warcraft, or whether the class was underpowered compared to the magicians. I was led to believe that it was infact Sorcerers being the stronger class as I saw A LOT of people dying all the time.
Ok, I?m going to stop being formal now and start talking about why I want to marry this game and have little Aion children that also sprout wings just like their mother.
This game is one of the first games that I?ve actually been chilled out whilst playing. I was happily walking along and the superbly made music came on softly and rocked me slowly into a daze as I was just looking for herbs. It was a weird moment as I was worrying that I might not make it in time to get level 10, write this review and get enough sleep to have an early private time but it calmed me right down and allowed me to not get frustrated during my time of play.
The combat system, yes its slow, is still very good and very varied. Taking on 2 mobs is definitely a challenge and 3 is basically an instant death. Mobs are not there to be grinded, they are there to stop you from reaching further in the game. These mobs are not like Resident Evil Zombies, they don?t get in the way, if you don?t attack them with caution then you will have half a nipple shoved in your eye whilst another mob bizmatches your face. (Thank you Chris) I like this concept at it actually brings an idea of thought to the game, WoW = pure 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 button bashing until something dies whereas in Aion you think before you attack and consider the best thing to do. Mobs have pre position where they get ready to attack you if you get any closer, which again I feel is a very good concept. Instead of you agro-ing a mob whilst running and having no clue where it came from, these mobs warn you that you?re too close to them. Interesting because I don?t think all Wolves would run up to you instantly and try and bite off your goolies.
Ok quest time. Remember that time when you used to go to a village and pick up every quest you could find then turn on a quest helping program and then do them one by one? Of course you do, that?s how I did it. Aion is different though, obviously it?s a beta but at the same time I didn?t want to in Aion. 8/10 quests have a cutscene in it and/or lead up to another quest that has a cutscene. Quests are split into two sections ?Campaign?, being the story line quests that lead you through your characters daeva experience and ?Standard?, general grinding or gathering quests to fill in the gaps. Both offer an interesting sub story that does eventually lead into the main story. Example: If I hadn?t of done a little quest for this old lady I would have been charged more for an item for one of the quests. Necessarily I didn?t have to do it but doing it helped me in the game as well as giving me a nice chunk of experience.
I?m going to cut this review short now because I?m going to play it some more but all I have to say is that when you hit level 10 and you get wings and you witness all the Asmodians in Paedemonium (the Stormwind of Aion) then you will know exactly what I am talking about.
This game is beautiful and if you?re not the type of person to play this game then you must be barking mad.

Sorry. My heart lies with MapleStory. Never in an MMO did I ever think I could dress my character up like a Rozen Maiden, yet my main looks like Suigintou.

Is it just me, or does Nexon seem like a benevolant Microsoft?
