I have some coffee that I want to keep fresh, and I don't want to smell it when I am not using it. keeping the smell contained is the most important thing.
I bought this on a whim:
Tight vac container
http://www.amazon.com/Tightvac-Coffeevac-Black-1-85-Liter-1-6-Quart/dp/B0046JB136/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369780796&sr=8-3&keywords=tightvac

Has anyone used these before? Do they work well? Any other recommendations, other than the mason jars with the rubber gaskets?

Thanks

(Just a minor suggestion, there's probably better, less bothersome suggestions, but still.)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the coffee company called Idee Kaffee do sell their products in America as well. The thing is, they sell some of their coffee in glass jars that does keep the coffee inside it fresh, while also locking tight enough to keep the coffee scent inside. They look like these:

If you do find them while out and about and are looking for coffee anyway, picking it up to re-use the jar is a good idea. Recycling and all!

Why don't you want to smell the coffee? The smell is one of the best parts of coffee!
