Got 404 error while trying to post last time, annoying! Have to write it over XD.
Anyway, hello Escapist! After having my arm poked for a while by my fellow airsofters, I've decided to do another custom decorative sidearm, but for myself this time. Usually when I do these it's a commission, so I already have a motive to paint/replicate or other clear guidelines from the person I'm doing the sidearm for. This time I don't have those, because it's for myself, and so I find myself having a massively hard time not only settling on which gun to paint, but in even bigger part the motive I want to paint on it.
I have decided to only paint the pistol grip as I feel that looks the best. I've also already done 4 black pistols and 1 gold, so I wanted to do a silver one for myself. So far I've narrowed it down to two choices, seen at the bottom of this post. Went for the older models as I feel they look more elegant than the new ones.
As for the motive, I don't want to paint anything that's already been done on a pistol grip (as I know of), and I don't want to use one of my previous motives. I want it to be as unique and interesting as possible, but still look like something that a classy gangster from back in the day wouldn't be ashamed of putting his hands on. Please post/link pictures of motives or suggestions on what to paint, that would be greatly appreciated!
I've done the following, so you know what to clear away from:
G17, blue Chinese dragon (grip and top slide).
92FS, green/blue tribal spray paint (grip).
92FS, golden eagle (grip).
Luger 8" barrel (gold), thorn bushes (grip).
P226, coiled snake (grip).
I've narrowed my choice of sidearm down to the following two. If you have suggestions on this too, you are free to post them! Obviously, both are silver:

The classic pistol as used from early in the 20th century, and still today! It's timeless, good looking and provides a great surface area for painting. Very comfortable to hold, but the bumpy grip would mean that my motive would have to simple up a bit. Not necessarily a bad thing, simple can often kick intricate ass!

It looks a bit "special" compared to most modern sidearms that the average airsofter carry these days, which is why it appealed to me. Also a decent amount of grip area to paint on, and a smother surface which would allow for more intricate motives.
