The Akasa AK-NBC-03BK Black Gemini Ergonomic NB cooler for up to 15.4" widescreen Laptops/ Notebooks, ****Breathes**** , is a laptop stand /cooler to help keep your laptop cool.

The device contains several fans which are powered through a USB cable from your laptop. All you need to do is connect it and switch it on! HEY PRESTO! It's as easy as that.

I love PC gaming, however the only thing I can game on is my laptop. I have been very unfortunate with my laptop. I have already had to send back my laptop twice to get it repaired from overheating so this was obviously a problem that didn't want to go away. One day at Uni, our group had got onto the subject of computer problems and overheating. Out lecturer had advised me that I should try out a laptop cooler as he has never been able to do without since.

Skeptical at first, I was unsure how something so simple could help my laptop. But I wasn't in any position to doubt. I tried out scan.co.uk (the site I was advised to try, they have a huge range of coolers) and for my size of laptop, it would cost about £15. That was an ok price for something that could save all those repair trips. The only downside so far was that the postage was half the price of the cooler :(.

A few days later it arrived in the post. Eager to try it out and see how far I could push it, I conducted a few tests.

-Idle-

Before the cooler, my laptop would generate an enormous amount of heat from being idle. When using the cooler, the laptop was actually chilled to the touch which was a nice change.

-Team Fortress 2-

This was a big step in the cooler impressing me. Before my laptop would overheat and crash from being on the main menu for 2 minutes, not even playing a game. With the cooler that night, I played TF2 for 4 hours straight, then left it idle in developers commentary for a few more hours. Throught-out all of this my laptop still remained cool!

-24 hour running test-

The final test I wanted to try was to leave the laptop on for 24 hours. The first 12 were spent idle, the next 12 were spent on TF2 with ALL settings on maximum. After the first 12 the laptop was still stone cold. The next day I checked the laptop and the laptop was lukewarm.

I was extremely impressed with this product. Previously my laptop would overheat at the slightest sign of activity. It got so bad that I actually burnt my hand on the base several times. Now I can run it for as long as I want and it will still be chilly. For a mere £15 (£23 with postage) I have extended the life of my laptop and saved my sanity.

My veridct? Buy it! They are definately worth it and don't cost much.
