He didn't.
he died after the world almost ended, when world peace started he died
I wanted to say that Akira in it's own right is the greatest manga because it is psychologically perplexing like Watchmen.
that is all I have to say for now and ever.
well I agree entirely with the watchmen part, I don't watch a lot of magna but that sounds fameiliar, can you boost my memory? just a basic`outline would do

I remember reading that Rorshach was primarily designed as a real world Batman. But I don't think that was well perpetrated. I mean Batman isn't psychotic or a ruthless killer like Rorschach.
Nope, he is "The Question".

I still don't get why people like Rosarch the guy was Homophobic, right wing, fascist, possibly racist (never directly seen but its likely given his other viewpoints), hated anything not moral or right like prostitution and drugs, he did nothing but enforce his own viewpoint onto everyone around him often with a vengeance, I happily cheered at what happened at the end . He's like an extreme male Sarah Palin (not the best comparison but still)
Funny, isn´t it, even Alan Moore is surprised people like Rosarch.

I think I'm one of the few people in whole damn world that prefers V for Vendetta over Watchmen. I know a friend that has Akira manga/comic/Whatever you want to call it, I might ask him so I can read. If I find the time.
well, manga is japanese for comic book,so either is good.

I think V for vendetta is about equal to watchmen,I'll give V victory for it's lack of blue male vascular organs.

I'm looking foward to the akira remake,my brothers not.scared the hell outta him,my older brother, course I always had more of a taste for that sorta stuff.

I love the original manga for Akira, glad to see someone credit the manga rather than the terrible movie that felt like it had nothing to do with it.

Well don't bad mouth the Manga, i mean after all if it were not for the movie, your precious anime would not have been even remotely introduced, for a second time I might add. Also, I can't stand alot of the crap that both comics and manga alike are producing. Alan Moore and I think alike in the terms that there is too many of the same stuff for both mediums. Akira is different in which not huge anatomically incorrect eyes are on characters, and Watchmen is different where the villains are not the stupid organization of evil whom are being copied from the original comic books. I would honestly give you credit by stating that you like Akira the manga. In fact, I believe that it is getting a second chance at redemption. If vertigo gets its hands in the Series, then it will have beat Marvel for printing the greatest series of all time.

That and naruto gets old.

Wait what? My precious anime? I never liked the movie. I love the manga series that actually had the character named Akira in it.
Read my post before you start ranting against me.

I've been fascinated by Akira since watching the film which I really enjoyed, even if it did seem incredibly chaotic even by manga standards. I fully intend to read Akira at some point, but I figured I should cool off after the film and approach it from a more neutral attitude. That was 3 years ago.

And I preferred Watchmen to V for Vendetta, although V for Vendetta was utterly fantastic too.
The comic is in many ways very different from the movie. Koji Morimoto was the animation director and his wierdness is clearly visible throughout, especially in the stuffed animal scene.

I read both Akira and Watchmen and I personally enjoyed Akira a bit more. The tangilbe art-style and amazing story just blew me away. Watchmen on the other hand had the best dialoge I've read in a comic.

Batman is almost as messed up as Rorschach, but Bruce Wayne's enemy is not the negative aspects of the human condition (as Rorschach's is), but typical villains.

When was he homophobic? I don't remember that. Anyway, I like Rorschach because of the reasons you listed. I viewed him as a caricature of our own self-righteousness. Also, he really shows how futile it is to view the world purely in black and white terms. It just doesn't work.

I say that in a world where there is supposedly a black and white discernibility, there will always be a shade of grey, one hue for every individual.
You can quote me on that. Akira is a great manga because it is still what makes manga so epic. The reason Watchmen is so epic is because it an inverse of the romantic superhero saves the day type of shit.

I have never read either the Akira manga or the Watchmen graphic novel so I have nothing new to add to that conversation. But I will say this: both movies were great. Neither may have lived up to their source material but they were standout movies nonetheless. The Watchmen movie was ever so slightly better than the Akira movie, but they are both great films.
