Isn't Alan Wake the game that had an achievement for sitting through an in-game Verizon commercial playing on the TV? Maybe they mean for a sequel they'll go really wild and have an Apple ad?

I hope that the gameplay has a bit more variety in whatever sequel they plan to make. AW1 had a very interesting story, but everytime you started actually "playing" again, it just threw you into some random forest and went back to relying on "BOO!" surprise tactics to try to be scary, which stops working sometime between the first and second hour.

No?

You get the achievement for turning on the TV. Press B, TV turns on, "See What's on the Tube" achievement completed, 5G. It plays a few commercials, but you certainly don't have to sit there and watch it. If you do sit and watch.. and you complain, then you're just a bit thick.

Also.. I'm not so sure I agree with this sequel yet. I was under the impression that Alan Wake 1 would run for quite some time in episodic installments. That's the whole structure.. and so far, as we are nearing the end of the year, we only have one additional episode. The second add-on is sometime towards October hopefully.

Seems more like Left4Dead sequel syndrome really...

Though, did they explicitly allude to a sequel, or did they just say "More Wake".. ? That could also mean more episodes, which is what I would prefer.

All in all, though.. I would still get Alan Wake 2. If so, then I'd like to see them shy away from the monotonous action sequences. These are never scary, and it becomes quite a meandering chore. Also, it's especially not-so-scary when they slow-mo the action sequence and pan the camera around to show you exactly where th enemies are. Might as well just have Alan shoot them automatically while we're at it.

Those are just my gripes though. I like Alan Wake.

I rented it for about an hour.

Returned it.

Bought it retail ten minutes later.

I LOVE it.

Incidentally I intend to play it more later today.

I didn't play it, was just going by reviews, which complained about that in particular rather a lot. And what I wrote was intended to be mostly a joke :(
