Alien Isolation - Virtually Unplayable! *Spoiler Free*

And I don't mean its too scary!

I mean as far as I can tell, my copy is glitched and its making the game virtually unplayable. I took some
screenshots to show what I mean. See if you can spot what is it I might be annoyed at:

Delightful! A key part of the game, computer interactions, and I have to guess at it.

Climbing? Nah! When I'm being chased by an alien, I like to guess! Adds to the feeling of helplessness if I can't even play

Oh this was fun! I love playing the timed guessing games with no instructions. Reminds me of the time I sat in on a Latin class and didn't understand a word of what was going on.

It's kinda like having my own little canto in the Inferno.

This is what I mean. The command prompts, quick-time-events, whatever you want to call them, THEY'RE FUCKING BLANK! I mean for fucks sake! Having QTEs is bad enough, but I don't even know what the prompts are! Now it CAN be played, it's just so fucking frustrating and annoying that it throws me out of the game. I've managed to struggle through a few of them, with a LOT of trial and error, but this is just absurd! I shouldn't be more afraid of the damned control scheme than a giant alien or soulless killing machines!

I am playing on hard, as recommended (God knows why they didn't make the recommended setting be normal) so maybe this complete lack of direction and control is part of it. And if so, I'll congratulate them.
Yes, this is hard. But it?s not scary. It?s annoying. I'm seriously considering asking Steam for a refund. This shit is unacceptable.

I've taken this problem to the Steam Forums, and I've made two separate forum posts. Both have gone completely ignored, so I figured I'd try here. Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone heard about this problem? Already tried uninstalling and re-installing. Should I call a young priest and an old priest? Yell at a kitten? Sacrifice a fated calf to the Gods of poor game-play design?

I can tell you that it isn't due to hard mode, I saw the prompts just fine. To me it seems like a graphical/overlay problem, in that certain parts of your UI isn't showing up. Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? If so, what GPU are you running? Have you tried uninstalling the game, using something like Ccleaner to wipe your registry and try again?

Is it a legitimate copy? I know developers nowadays like to put unpassable sections of games and bugs of that ilk for people who download copies of games that they don't pay for... That is not the case here right?

Did you install the disk using the first one? You can also try clean the disk, or exchange your copy when I bought black flag I had some serious game breaking glitches and I exchanged it that week telling the employees about my glitches (so they wouldn't resell my copy), the new copy didn't have those however the dev bug of my armblades and select bombs disappeared until the patch arrived.

For the puzzles you have words explaining how to solve the hack puzzles the whole white one align the values is dumb no matter what just keep clicking A till it displays vertical lines and the puzzle shorts out usually then it'll give you a brand new puzzle. And to escape the robots just keep pressing A. The only other glitch I've run into was the alien would stop in front of my hiding spot and not move even after 5 minutes I just had to come out and die to solve the issue which only happened once, the second one which is more like 1% of the time is when it keeps leaping into and outof the same vent right next to you so you can't move or if you're in a vent with dual access between two rooms it'll always be in the room you want to leave through in that case toss a noise maker and run out the other end, if you try to just sit in the vent and craft or do nothing till it goes away even if you're in the back away from the vent openings it will come in there and kill you.

All drivers are up to date, already tried uninstall and re-install, and I'm running an Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650m. Not the best out there, but after a set a few of the in game setting to low/medium, it runs fine. All except the damned prompts

well silent i hate that thats a problem cause its very much a tense experience once you know you dont have to deal with that.

I'd suggest uninstalling, doing a registry wipe (using a tool such a Ccleaner), rebooting and installing again, preferably in a different folder). Not sure if it will work, but it should provide you with a "clean slate" without risking any residual registry entries that might be causing problems.

Seems like a problem with your copy, I doubt it's intentional.
