I've had AvP for a few days now and have just had a chance to get on the multiplayer and I must say I found myself having fun, at first.
I ran in to some problems after my first couple of games when the game would repeatedly end because of hosts disconnecting and this led me to wonder.. why bother? AvP doesn't have a set of online stats to look at and the only way to get new skins and some of the achievements is to keep getting exp. so why do hosts repeatedly disconnect if they are losing?
I know its a petty complaint but its really annoying, me and my friends were disconnecting from every game we played over around a 4 hour period and its really put me off an otherwise decent system.
Some other game modes could do with a few tweaks as well; Infestation is fine with a large number of players but in a smaller scale game the aliens don't stand a chance.. Had I constructed the game I'd have added a few AI aliends as well, to heighten the horde image and also give the Marines a chance to get a few more kills.
The spawning is dangerous as well; I've been spawned as a Marine into a room with two Predators in resulting in immediate death.
It's not so much a complaint but certain game typres such as Predator Hunt require a far greater number of players to actually be worth it, we tried it 3 player and it was just dull, the Predator either stomped the Marines without giving them a chance or lost his status without a single kill thanks to the maps size.
Let me reemphasise, I like the game a lot, but there are just a few little issues that, if adressed, would far improve the experience, notably allowing the game to find a new host.
Apologies for this, I've just been having all these complaints whizzing round my head and felt I needed to get them out, if I were more pro-active I'd like to email Sega or Rebellion, but I know they wouldn't listen, so I won't (also why I never complained directly to Infinity Ward)
thanks for reading.
