So, in your opinion, which are the best and which are the worst in their respective universes, including AvP games?

I always liked the Fox Interactive "Aliens vs. Predator" game that came out in '99.

The 2001 sequel to it, "Aliens vs. Predator 2" by Monolith Productions, always felt a bit clunky to me.

Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.
Alien vs Predator 2 is the movie version of that book.

I liked the old version of alien vs predator. I dunno what it was called. had terrible graphics, but alien gameplay was awesome. crawling through vents and eating heads for HP all day.

Christ I didn't even know there existed this shit ton of them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alien_and_Predator_games
I only really played 3 (the rest were occasional encounters of horror).

AvP (1999 - PC), AvP 2 (2001 - PC), AvP (2010 - PC)
First two were awesome, sure they left much to improve but for their time they were the shit.
And this last one... holy hell which group of monkeys did you use to make this, it's right up there with the top shitty games of all times.

I bought it for like $2 during a Steam sale.

In retrospect I wish I had just bought a soda or something instead.

Regardless of whether or not I choose the game or the soda I'm only going to be using the purchase once, but at least I would have enjoyed the soda.

First answer is best answer.

The lightning speed of the 99 Avp has never been equaled. The latest installment was a multiplayer disgrace.

I still play avp 99 from time to time. Its GREAT.

I was a huge fan of AVP2 because it felt like the writers gave -- what usually is a bit of a travesty in my eyes (franchise crossover) -- a respectable story to two really compelling works of creature fiction.

The Marine campaign really nailed the atmosphere.

Well, I liked the old Rebellion AVP FPS. That was pretty good, especially after you turned off that god-awful music. The comics were generally pretty awesome too.

Ha!

I didn't think it was that bad. But they really fell short of its potential.

I really enjoyed both the '99 AvP and AvP2. AvP probably had better gameplay but AvP2 had a cool story and great atmosphere.

The 2010 version was disappointing by comparison.

I only got to play the 2010 version. *cries in a corner*

The campaign modes weren't TERRIBLE, but the multiplayer, the main attraction here, was a mess of slow matchmaking and lag.

Monolith's Aliens versus Predator 2 (2001) is a great game. The Marine campaign is tense and atmospheric, and the other two offer a nice change of pace to your standard FPS gameplay.

The only other one I've played is the most recent Aliens versus Predator (2010). I got it for bargain bin price and had a bit of fun with it (took about 7 hours to complete). It was OK, but it wasn't nearly as good as Monolith's effort and wasn't really special in any way.

These are the only ones i played too.

I liked the alien and marine campaign from the new one. The Predator campaign was silly. If i were a marine and i would hear a odd recorded human voice telling me senseless stuff i would be getting very carefull, guns ready and calling for back up instead of walking happy into my death. It ruined the atmosphere a little for me.

The only one I've ever played was the original Atari Jaguar version. I seem to recall liking it but it sorta killed the whole idea of a FPS on a console for me. It just didn't have the right feel to it and ran sorta slow.

If you ask me, AvP2 was/is by far the best of the bunch. I thought it was GREAT to see an AvP game that actually had a respectable story. Personally I think the story is solid enough that they could turn it into a movie. I love how the 3 campaigns intertwine with each other, the actions of each protagonist inadvertently aiding the other two protagonists without any of this "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" bullshit.

I also really enjoyed Predator: Concrete Jungle. But I've always been a HUGE Predator fan while only a moderate Aliens fan.

As for the worst game, I really don't think there's a "worst", but if I had to pick one I'd go with the newest one that was released for the consoles but only because the story doesn't fit in as seamlessly as it did in AvP2 for the PC...it gets kinda hard to follow at times. That said, I love the mechanic they made for the Smart Disc in that game, made it really fun and a viable weapon without being cheap and "throw disc, get a kill".

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I've enjoyed all of them for the most part, the last one was really fun too, but the story was retarded.
