A word of advice to people playing or buying Aliens: Colonial Marines. This will not address any technical issues (I haven't even found any, but there you go), but rather, a gameplay matter some critics seem to be taking an issue with. That of the game being too easy.

For a true Aliens experience play it in Ultimate Badass difficulty. It's not simply a question of it being challenging, it's the way the game it's clearly meant to be played for a true Alien experience. You have no HUD, no ammo and health counters (except for the ammo indicators on the gun itself) and the Aliens WILL kill you in one or two hits.

A lot of the reviews I've read are nitpicking on how the Aliens are not threatening enough and the game is overall too easy, just mowing down Aliens left and right. Well, those people were clearly playing it in Recruit or Soldier modes, because I assure you, in Ultimate Badass, you WILL be fighting for your life. Hell, my first encounter with a Xenomorph in this difficulty ended with me blindly spraying into the dark, only for the creature to somehow sneak up behind me and kill me in one hit!

So, here you go... a simple, easy, fun way to avoid a lot of the criticism being thrown the way of the game.

I already have a sure fired method for greatly improve my gaming experience with Aliens: Colonial Marines. I started by pushing the "Delete local content button" and them moving the game to a the group "Terrible Games" of which A:CM will share space with two other tenants Duke Nukem: Forever and Borderlands, what a coincidence two other titles by Gear Box... Hmmm a developing pattern. Now to improve my game play experience even further, I will play System Shock 2 till Brutal Legend is released, ahhhh that feels better.

P.S. the creature didn't "some how sneak up behind you", The most likely culprit is one of the major issues I have with this game they magically clip right through you making them much harder to hit, as well as breaking any sort of in game immersion.

I've heard the single player campaign is still laughably easy on ultimate badass mode and still only takes about 6 hours to play through.

If only there were also some sort of "early childhood education" setting that gave the aliens basic spatial awareness, simple problem-solving skills, and object permanence.

Waiting til after the game comes out to check the reviews, then looking at the extra £30 in my bank account sure improved my experience of the game.

There's enough bad reviews and hilarious let's plays out there to keep me amused for a while.

I did play Ultimate Badass mode for my initial playthrough. It was still incredibly easy thanks to the dumb AI, and still an overall massive letdown.

Real answer for how to improve your Aliens experience? Go watch Aliens.

Yeah, pretty much.

I've never really gotten this idea that you should restrict yourself to a certain playstyle in order to make a bad or lacklustre game tolerable.

I mean, playing through a game that encourages this (like Dishonored as Corvo Attano, The Loudest Man in Dunwall) is one thing, but restricting yourself to the highest difficulty setting in a terrible game in order to make it halfway playable almost seems like Stockholm Syndrome.

Hey! You stole me idea--oh wait, it's you. So this was the thread you were talking about huh? Yeah, I agree. I've had a lot more fun with it playing co op on Ultimate Badass, or just on Soldier with people who want to play the game and not rush it, than I ever did playing it solo.

Seems to me that it would still be way too easy.

Note that I say this without even playing the game at all. I WILL play it on whatever the hardest difficulty is, but I am pretty sure that is going to be a cakewalk, simply going by how easy games are those days and by most people claiming this game is broken in every sence of the word, including the AI... I already see some cheap deaths caused by bugs, if thats what you call "difficulty", thougt.

There is a way to improve it further, you wait until the game is $10 and then you will have a blast.
I have an even better idea, sir! Wait until the game gets to 5$ and don't buy it even then!

By the looks of it you'd get more fun and value for money out of that game if you used the disc as a Frisbee.
