Just a heads-up, there's a fairly major spoiler in the trailer. It's easy to miss but it is noticeable. It isn't a split-second shot either.
That wouldn't be the presence of a well known model of Android now would it?

If it is he's not a huge spoiler, he's standard issue
No it is not. It's much more spoilerific than that.
Tell us what you see great sage...
Somebody might not be as dead as Alien 3 would have you believe...

Either that or it is simply a generic reused character skin and I'll be seriously bummed out.

is to take a very good look at what the man that has a bag on his head is wearing. That isn't his first appearance in the trailer...

Well that's certainly very interesting.

Hick's body is in Alien 3, they cremate it and everything. Unless the body was never Hicks, since it had no face for legal reasons, Bishop lied to Ripley and sent the Sulaco back on itself in desperation... somehow.

What if it's Morse from number 3? Or one of the other Marines is somehow not dead?

Or maybe it's all just a massive great big Recon, which would be awesome!

No, it wouldn't. 3 is a good film. It is by no means worthy of retconning. Resurrection and the AVP movies on the other hand.....

Over on the Gearbox forums there are a million conspiracy theories but all point to a retcon happening. WY swapped out the body of Hicks, abducting him so they can learn more about the aliens. This was when they were in cyro-sleep and so it also explains the random egg and the impregnation of Ripley.
Personally I'm against it but it's a done deal now.

Hope to god they retconned 3, it was pretty atrocious compared to one and two, but I can see why people would think it was good next to the turd heap that was Resurrection. I think Nouw's suggestion is most obvious, since I always wondered how the queen managed to say eggs in about 2 minutes from the dropship landing in the Salvaco to bishop getting stabbed.

So I'm thinking, all these go on, on that ship, with Ripley still in cryo.. So.. Less a retcon and more a filler to explain the plothole that was Alien 3.

So, wait. If this is set after Aliens, then the Marines are dispatched to the Sulaco while Ripley and co are in hypersleep on it.

Surely they could just have woken up Hicks (maybe for some kind of interrogation?), then for whatever reason, put him back in before the escape pod is launched?

Wait, let me guess just how cliched this game's plot is going to be. A squad of marines will go onto a ship for no intelligent reason, get stuck, and have to fight their way out. The marines will include 1 guy who swears every M&&^*F*&*ING 10 seconds, 1 token black guy or woman just there to keep people from calling racism/sexism and gets killed 5 minutes in, 1 rookie which will be the player character, at least 1 guy who jokes and screws around and doesn't last much longer than the black guy, 1 tough as nails no nonsense guy that lasts almost to the end and then dies in some convoluted fashion, probably killed by the Alien queen, and 1 guy marine or civilian who exists only to be captured by an Alien and to be infested and killed by their chest burster when they're found a few hours later, and they all end up dead except the player in ways that try to be dramatic but just make most of the squad look like morons and the player must find a way off the ship/planet/wherever before it's destroyed, killing an alien queen on the way out.

I think that what's most important in Alien games is the atmosphere above all, if they can't make a creepy atmosphere that makes you jump at every sound, it's not going to be a good game. Fear is what makes or breaks an Alien game, and it's something that Alien game developers always miss. Gearbox should take notes from Doom 3 on making such an atmosphere in a shooter.

Hey, the story can't make that much sense. But seriously, maybe they wanted someone with them to aid their first encounter? I'd rather have a expert with me than the guide-book of the expert.

What? That Hicks leaves a message he CLEARLY recorded after the events of Aliens, where he pretty much says "Everyone's dead - stay away"? Newsflash - if you saw the movie, you know that shit hit the fan down there. The only new thing is that he recorded a message. And that is HARDLY really a spoiler.
It's not. The individual with the bag over their head in the trailer appears to be Hicks (he's wearing the same shirt and everything). If you really think that they brought Michael Biehn back solely to do a voiceover message, you're mistaken.

The prevailing theory on fansites (pieced together from what we know so far) is that Weyland-Yutani came aboard the Sulaco after it left LV-426, took Hicks and replaced him with a similar corpse and purposely/inadvertently caused the accident that made the cryopods eject, then brought the Sulaco back to LV-426. That's why (in the single-player demos), Winter and the Marines are fighting W-Y private military contractors, who are supposedly still onboard the ship.

Eh, kind of annoyed that while in the movie all of the female marines had crew cuts/short hair like the male marines, in this they all have long hair. Where the heck is our new Vasquez?
