So, tis all good. I think Friday 10pm GMT is when I'll deadline Character sheets and then I'll post up who's been accepted, for a Saturday start!
Awww, if I were to be accepted, I wouldn't be able to do a Saturday start... In light of recent events, I may not be able to commit as it is... I'll think on it though.

Can I get a reserve? I'll get this thing done by tomorrow. If that isn't suitable, by tonight. It'll be 9pm in about 7 hours.

I may very well bite.
The char I have in mind is a bit of a badass alcoholic pilot. I'm worried that all chars jumping in would have to be solders, in which case I'd have to rethink my choice.

I've never participated in an RP before, but I have wanted to try one for a long time. How would this go down if I were to play? Would we play while talking through skype or something?

Once the characters are accepted, we start another thread and we make postings of our characters and occasionally I push the narrative forwards.

I'd recommend reading through some of the other RP's floating about to get a feel for how they work.

The nice guy that I am, I'll link you to my first and main RP that is currently running:

Name: Drake "Cyan" Hefford
Age: 24
Rank: Civilian Pilot

Appearance: Brown hair and dark brown eyes. The Caucasian man stood at slightly above average height. He had a slight athletic build, but he's overall remarkably average. It's been a while since the main has seen any care into his hair, so he does have a stubble, and a slightly overgrown buzzcut. But the tired looking human is still quite presentable. He would never discard his navy blue pea-coat, which he calls the "Captain's Coat" and he has had no choice but to wear a black shirt underneath for the past few days. He wears a rather ugly pair of faded denim pants that is quite baggy, but it doesn't hinder his movement anymore than the combat boots he picked up from a surplus store in the past.

Weapons:Drake is rarely seen without his HAC Double barrel shotgun. It's both, pumped, and magazine fed. Drake is able to unload two shotgun shells on his target, but it is an undesirable choice due to the fact that the magazine only holds 6 rounds. For the most part,

Drake has also picked up a standard issue M4A4 handgun. This lighter handgun features a fairly tough punch, but the 12 round magazine stored within the handle itself also hurts. This was issued to him.

4 shotgun magazines, with 18 additional shells.
6 Handgun magazines, with 45 additional .45 rounds. (One box)
Standard issue Combat knife. Issued.

Misc gear:
1 bottle of whiskey and 4 flasks. Most important.
Small Duffel Bag.
Rations
Walled containing credits and ID.
Cheap Patch Welder.
Swiss Army Knife
Scarf.
Goggles, but they don't do anything.
First Aid Kit

Personality: Drake can sometimes be seen as abrasive or commanding, but that's because he feels he has what it takes to be a great leader. He's more on the analytic side, but that doesn't mean he does not have the instinct to survive. Drake is not normally trusting of others, but at this point, he's gotten a little more desperate. When Drake finds someone he cares about, he is often seen as over-protective, almost willing to sacrifice himself for that person, but his crew have all died, and he only has three people left who are in such a position with him. These people are also not present.

When Drake was young, his parents were killed in an accident. With very little help from the age of 8, he was forced to take care of his younger sister, Ellie. When he was 12, he discovered the healing abilities of Alcohol and started to believe in it's false abilities. It spiraled out of control, he no longer drinks to forget, now he simply drinks to feel right. Incidents that occurred throughout his life made him distrustful of others, and forced him to believe tightly knit groups are best.

Drake don't take no shit. So disputes with him may end up with fists thrown, but Drake's good side is often met with excellent chemistry, as if he chooses to, he can really become good friends with anyone with a bright smile and jubilation!

Back story: Drake was born into an impoverished family. With little to eat, and a younger sister down the road, there was little playtime. Unfortunately, when he was 8, his parents died, and he was left to look after his younger sister, guarding her fiercely until she was old enough to fend on her own as a mechanical specialist. Drake fell in the hole that was alcoholism and hasn't stopped since, scrounging for the money to feed his needs and his younger sister. When Drake was 15, he discovered how to fly a ship, and had been a pilot ever since. His sister would repair any damage, and he would ensure her job was as quick and boring as possible by preventing any damage was happening in the first place as he navigated through atmosphere and debris fields of a developing planet.

When his sister was able to stand on her own two feet, both, financially and against anyone who may be hostile against her, Drake started to find jobs that led him away from home. On one planet, he had met Miranda, who wanted to fly away and travel with him. With their pooled finances, they were able to find a home on Earth and become ready to start a new life. Drake continued to pilot away for home for a few years, developing a good relation with the crew he worked with on an independent shipping company, but it was always something that tired him. Drake had thought about quitting his job to stay at home with Miranda every time homesickness set in.

Drake was brought in by the USCM because he is fairly knowledgeable of the particular region of space, as well as how to avoid any debris in the area. Drake isn't the most friendly to the others due to the fact he had recently become a father to a boy named Grayson, but was unable to transmit back any confirmation.

Let me know what you think. If he's no good, I'll probably bring in a female weapon's specialist.

Edited: Changelog
More supplies in First Aid Kit
Now has Rations, not canned food.
No longer has any access keys.
Less alcohol.
Doesn't know about Aliens yet. That first shot's gonna burn...
Two weapons are now issued, not stolen.
Drake's backstory is slightly more military and less civilian.

Pass-keys to enable access to most of the facility
Scarf.
Goggles, but they don't do anything.
Mostly empty First Aid Kit

Drake had thought about quitting his job to stay at home with Miranda every time homesickness set in.

Shortly before landing on this colony, Drake received the message from home stating that he was now a father to a boy. He never had any objection to the name "Grayson" but he was unable to transmit this message back, due to a rather eventful landing attempt that caused some damage to the hull and landing gear. Something that would take a large crew and about 2 weeks to repair. During his wait for assistance, people started to disappear, and strange things started to happen. People were found dead with acid burns, and a strange alien creature was found hugging someone's face. Drake steered clear, but everyone in the colony was plucked off, one by one. Some with their chests burst apart, others with acid burns, as well as a few unlucky people who were killed in other ways.

Drake started to weld doors and vents shut, keeping a mental map of the areas that were not closed down. He only had a small moment to send a S.O.S. before he had to go into hiding, the little knowledge he had on the monsters made him send the message "Bio-hazard" in hopes whoever came would be prepared for the threat to his life.

Let me know what you think. If he's no good, I'll probably bring in a female weapon's specialist.
I like the character, I like the back story and his non-military ties. What I would like to point out however, is that you will be starting on-board of a USCM Ship and with everyone else - So I'd appreciate you taking the last part out. Other than that, a great sheet!

Finally, an Aliens based game. Been waiting for something like this to occur. I'm sort of new to text based RP but have plenty of experience with it live. So I'll just throw mine into the mix and see what happens. Lots of interesting characters already so I'll go for something closer to Brett from Alien and Frost from Aliens.

Name: Diago Foster
Age: 21
Rank: Private

Appearance: On first appearance not marine recruiting poster material. At 5' 9" and 140 lb, words like "string bean" seem appropriate. To complete the spectacle he has brownish hair cut short from boot camp and dark tan skin from exposure to the elements. He appears fit even though his build is light.

Weapons: M56A1 Smartgun, M4A3 pistol, combat knife on right shoulder, smartgunner variant armor (more vest like, less overall protection but better maneuverability)

Misc gear: Small toolkit, data pad (think more advanced and smaller Kindle), mini med kit, USCMC welding torch, and ear plugs.

Personality: Quiet and reserved overall but not shy. Follows the ideology that it's "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt". Becomes chatty and fidgets when nervous, usually giving technical specifications on whatever gadget is around. Natural balance to eccentric types and generally the straight man in a double act. Interests tend towards anything mechanical.

Back story: Born and raised on a colony know for agriculture but possessing no talent or desire to pursue farming. Bored as a youth and passed away the time tinkering with machines and gadgets. That and competitively shooting beer bottles off of stumps with his friends. This rivalry led him into a cycle of building and improving his rifles, honing his mechanical skill and marksmanship. His studies suffered and he barely received average grades in his academic studies, which left very little he could do in the future. With pitifully small options, he joined the Colonial Marines as a way to do something meaningful while getting away from having to mind potatoes for the rest of his life. During his training his sergeants noted his talent with firearms, moving him into higher and higher weapons training. It was here that he found his love of things that fire fast and loud. His marksmanship ability combined with his steady nature, if not his size, made him a natural heavy weapons specialist.

Fresh out of boot and with little combat experience he joins his new squad investigating a space station that has just dropped out of radio contact.

There you go! ^.^ Made some changes to overall keep his stuff, but keep it more to what he would have. in that situation. As well as added an explanation as to why he's here, instead of just having them there without one.

Thank you! That's much better - Liking your character a lot, would definitely mix up the squad a bit for a "Civilian contractor" to be involved. :)

Two character sheets have been accepted. Waiting for roughly 4/5 more. I'm still deciding on a few of the ones here - So if you don't see your sheet accepted yet, fear not! There is still time before I close entries!

Ok sure why not.

Name: Jose Ortiz
Age: 26
Rank (Below Sergeant): Private First Class

Appearance: Ortis stands at an intimidating 6'3 and is built like a line backer, weighing in at 242lb. His posture reflects his heavy build, with broad shoulders and a straight back, he rarely stands out of form. His short black hair is buzzcut, and he has a thick soul patch on his chin. His skin is of a darker tone due to his ethnicity. Threatening as his figure might seem, his face is usually relaxed, rather than tense, he rarely gets creases on his forehead and can often be seen smiling slightly to himself.

Weapons: ZX Shotgun, M420 Flamethrower.

Misc gear: Silver cross and chain on his neck, silver studs on his ears. M3H Marine Heavy Armor.

Personality: Jose is a stern figure that doesn't take kindly to insults, responding with a spine tingling stare but very rarely getting violent. He has long overcome his anger issues and has been known to practice relaxation techniques and deep breathing exercises when threatened or upset. Evidence of this is in his calm manner of speaking, he almost seems to whisper at times as if either very sedated or simply uninterested in the conversation. In conversation, he is straight forward and never sarcastic or coy. When on duty, or on a mission, he isn't one to joke or make light of the situation, but is generally social and humorous during leisure hours.

Back story: Ortiz comes from a wealthy family that has made a decent fortune off of investments in inter-stellar mining in local sectors, living most of his childhood out on a lavish estate in one of the many space colonies founded near mining operations. He always found it difficult to get along with his family as they always pushed him towards academic pursuit so that he could continue his father's work in the business world. That life never appealed to him however, he never even liked wearing a suit. Jose instead expressed a great interest in sports, and had an impressive talent for it. Years of training and body building got him into the inter-planetary football league drafts, but later disputes with the Andromeda Dreadnaught's manager Tim Malarkey caused him to resign early into his third season.

Jose's dispute with his manager is fairly known news in the sport's world and made headlines when Ortiz was charged with assault on Malarkey. The charges were later dropped after the case had been claimed to have been "resolved outside of court".

Through all this, his parents continued to pressure him into once again picking up the books and continuing his academic career instead, but he refused. And, as if to affirm his opposition to his parent's will, he enlisted in the USCMC and quickly found himself at home there.
Our characters seem to have a bit in common on their backstory. Could get along, maybe? Though Miles will probably poke at Jose's stern disposition.

Name:Vic 'The Victim' Ashley.
Age:25
Rank:private
Appearance:Vic is 6 feet and 2 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has a medium-build and is considered 'buff.' His face is marked with a deep, round scar on his left cheek inflicted by his abusive father. Another scar originating from the tip of his lips on the right side lead to the circle. His eyes are blue but are usually described as empty. He has a crew-cut and is roughly shaven like this. [http://www.mxdwn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/DamonAlbarn.jpg] He has no tattoos or piercings. He has a slightly crooked back but a straight neck. On his grenades he writes 'Rust in Peace',since he never uses them but keeps anyway, and on his bullets 'Victim.' He also writes Victim everywhere on his body armour in dark, edged writing.

Weapons:Vic uses the Standard M41A Pulse Rifle and an Ithaca M37 'Stakeout' Shotgun. He also has a combat knife each next to his pectoral muscles. [http://www.innerbody.com/image/musfov.html]
Misc gear:He has a Shoulder Lamp and a Welding Torch.

Personality:Vic is a very reactive person. He is usually deemed anti-socialistic, shy and awkward by his squad-mates outside combat but when in conversation, he is eager to talk and ecstatic. He rarely starts a conversation but when he is in one, he's very talkative. Asking questions and sometimes talking non-stop. He is different on the battlefield however, he is incredibly chatty, outgoing and therefore constantly gets punished for talking. Many wonder why he is so different on the field, a place where talking could be the difference between life and death.

Back story: Vic grew up in a poor apartment on an unknown industrial planet with his parents and younger brother. His father was an abusive, gambling alcoholic. When he came back at dawn, he would beat Vic and his brother. He was losing money everyday which the two sons earned through slave-labour in worse conditions. At the age of eleven, Vic's mother was killed after his father forgot to turn a gas-tap off. His brother was in the building and escaped while on fire. He was never seen again. His father cut Vic and forced him into a room and never let him out. He was trapped in the dark, dirty room for 3 years. Unable to escape due to bolted down windows and lack of strength due to malnourishment. When fourteen, his father committed suicide and he was discovered by thieves who were robbing the house. They were planning to sell him to the organ blackmarket but he escaped by killing one of them. He turned himself in to the authority and at the age of 18, got the opportunity to enlist.

He got shipped to a nearby moon and did BCT. During BCT, he was bullied for his size as he was tall but skinny at the time. He was beaten up daily and planned to suicide if it wasn't for a "unknown biological entity" which killed off most of the trainees. A rescue team arrived a month later to pick up survivors. He was sent to another BCT for a year due to his "size and posture." During his time in the new BCT, he grew in size and improved his posture. After the year, he was assigned to a battalion and did several odd missions. This one was going to be just another one of the odd missions.
