Awww, if I were to be accepted, I wouldn't be able to do a Saturday start... In light of recent events, I may not be able to commit as it is... I'll think on it though.Dectomax said:So, tis all good. it's just a rough date as of now - so nothings set in stone!Tips_of_Fingers said:Awww, if I were to be accepted, I wouldn't be able to do a Saturday start... yup you're more than welcome to drop a sheet in whenever! I look forward to seeing it!Nouw said:Can I get a reserve? I'll get this thing done by tomorrow. If that isn't suitable, by tonight. It'll be 9pm in about 7 hours.
Yup, this is just to collect sheets - I'll go through them before the thing starts and let people know if they'been accepted.EternalFacepalm said:Still room for another? I'll get my sheet up by today or tomorrow.
Nope, that's more than acceptable! Look forward too seeing your sheet!BeerTent said:I may very well bite.
The char I have in mind is a bit of a badass alcoholic pilot. I'm worried that all chars jumping in would have to be solders, in which case I'd have to rethink my choice.
Once the characters are accepted, we start another thread and we make postings of our characters and occasionally I push the narrative forwards.BoredDragon said:I've never participated in an RP before, but I have wanted to try one for a long time. How would this go down if I were to play? Would we play while talking through skype or something?
I like the character, I like the back story and his non-military ties. What I would like to point out however, is that you will be starting on-board of a USCM Ship and with everyone else - So I'd appreciate you taking the last part out. Other than that, a great sheet!BeerTent said:Name: Drake "Cyan" Hefford
Age: 24
Rank: Civilian Pilot
Appearance: Brown hair and dark brown eyes. The Caucasian man stood at slightly above average height. He had a slight athletic build, but he's overall remarkably average. It's been a while since the main has seen any care into his hair, so he does have a stubble, and a slightly overgrown buzzcut. But the tired looking human is still quite presentable. He would never discard his navy blue pea-coat, which he calls the "Captain's Coat" and he has had no choice but to wear a black shirt underneath for the past few days. He wears a rather ugly pair of faded denim pants that is quite baggy, but it doesn't hinder his movement anymore than the combat boots he picked up from a surplus store in the past.
Weapons:Drake is rarely seen without his HAC Double barrel shotgun. It's both, pumped, and magazine fed. Drake is able to unload two shotgun shells on his target, but it is an undesirable choice due to the fact that the magazine only holds 6 rounds. For the most part, Drake has retired the weapon due to the acidic blood these creatures have.
Drake has also picked up a standard issue M4A4 handgun. This lighter handgun features a fairly tough punch, but the 12 round magazine stored within the handle itself also hurts. Drake picked up off a solder who didn't seem to need it anymore.
4 shotgun magazines, with 18 additional shells.
6 Handgun magazines, with 45 additional .45 rounds. (One box)
Standard issue Combat knife. Also from the solder who didn't need it anymore.
Misc gear:
3 bottles of whiskey and 4 flasks. Most important.
Small Duffel Bag.
Canned food and bottled water. Makes military rations look tasty.
Walled containing credits and ID.
Cheap Patch Welder.
Access keys to start a derelict ship. Too bad it crashed.
Swiss Army Knife
Pass-keys to enable access to most of the facility
Scarf.
Goggles, but they don't do anything.
Mostly empty First Aid Kit
Personality: Drake can sometimes be seen as abrasive or commanding, but that's because he feels he has what it takes to be a great leader. He's more on the analytic side, but that doesn't mean he does not have the instinct to survive. Drake is not normally trusting of others, but at this point, he's gotten a little more desperate. When Drake finds someone he cares about, he is often seen as over-protective, almost willing to sacrifice himself for that person, but his crew have all died, and he only has three people left who are in such a position with him. These people are also not present.
When Drake was young, his parents were killed in an accident. With very little help from the age of 8, he was forced to take care of his younger sister, Ellie. When he was 12, he discovered the healing abilities of Alcohol and started to believe in it's false abilities. It spiraled out of control, he no longer drinks to forget, now he simply drinks to feel right. Incidents that occurred throughout his life made him distrustful of others, and forced him to believe tightly knit groups are best.
Drake don't take no shit. So disputes with him may end up with fists thrown, but Drake's good side is often met with excellent chemistry, as if he chooses to, he can really become good friends with anyone with a bright smile and jubilation!
Back story: Drake was born into an impoverished family. With little to eat, and a younger sister down the road, there was little playtime. Unfortunately, when he was 8, his parents died, and he was left to look after his younger sister, guarding her fiercely until she was old enough to fend on her own as a mechanical specialist. Drake fell in the hole that was alcoholism and hasn't stopped since, scrounging for the money to feed his needs and his younger sister. When Drake was 15, he discovered how to fly a ship, and had been a pilot ever since. His sister would repair any damage, and he would ensure her job was as quick and boring as possible by preventing any damage was happening in the first place as he navigated through atmosphere and debris fields of a developing planet.
When his sister was able to stand on her own two feet, both, financially and against anyone who may be hostile against her, Drake started to find jobs that led him away from home. On one planet, he had met Miranda, who wanted to fly away and travel with him. With their pooled finances, they were able to find a home on Earth and become ready to start a new life. Drake continued to pilot away for home for a few years, developing a good relation with the crew he worked with on an independent shipping company, but it was always something that tired him. Drake had thought about quitting his job to stay at home with Miranda every time homesickness set in.
Shortly before landing on this colony, Drake received the message from home stating that he was now a father to a boy. He never had any objection to the name "Grayson" but he was unable to transmit this message back, due to a rather eventful landing attempt that caused some damage to the hull and landing gear. Something that would take a large crew and about 2 weeks to repair. During his wait for assistance, people started to disappear, and strange things started to happen. People were found dead with acid burns, and a strange alien creature was found hugging someone's face. Drake steered clear, but everyone in the colony was plucked off, one by one. Some with their chests burst apart, others with acid burns, as well as a few unlucky people who were killed in other ways.
Drake started to weld doors and vents shut, keeping a mental map of the areas that were not closed down. He only had a small moment to send a S.O.S. before he had to go into hiding, the little knowledge he had on the monsters made him send the message "Bio-hazard" in hopes whoever came would be prepared for the threat to his life.
Let me know what you think. If he's no good, I'll probably bring in a female weapon's specialist.
There you go! ^.^ Made some changes to overall keep his stuff, but keep it more to what he would have. in that situation. As well as added an explanation as to why he's here, instead of just having them there without one.Dectomax said:I like the character, I like the back story and his non-military ties. Thank you! That's much better - Liking your character a lot, would definitely mix up the squad a bit for a "Civilian contractor" to be involved.BeerTent said:There you go! ^.^ Made some changes to overall keep his stuff, but keep it more to what he would have. in that situation. Our characters seem to have a bit in common on their backstory. Could get along, maybe? Though Miles will probably poke at Jose's stern disposition.SteelStallion said:Ok sure why not.
Name: Jose Ortiz
Age: 26
Rank (Below Sergeant): Private First Class
Appearance: Ortis stands at an intimidating 6'3 and is built like a line backer, weighing in at 242lb. His posture reflects his heavy build, with broad shoulders and a straight back, he rarely stands out of form. His short black hair is buzzcut, and he has a thick soul patch on his chin. His skin is of a darker tone due to his ethnicity. Threatening as his figure might seem, his face is usually relaxed, rather than tense, he rarely gets creases on his forehead and can often be seen smiling slightly to himself.
Weapons: ZX Shotgun, M420 Flamethrower.
Misc gear: Silver cross and chain on his neck, silver studs on his ears. M3H Marine Heavy Armor.
Personality: Jose is a stern figure that doesn't take kindly to insults, responding with a spine tingling stare but very rarely getting violent. He has long overcome his anger issues and has been known to practice relaxation techniques and deep breathing exercises when threatened or upset. Evidence of this is in his calm manner of speaking, he almost seems to whisper at times as if either very sedated or simply uninterested in the conversation. In conversation, he is straight forward and never sarcastic or coy. When on duty, or on a mission, he isn't one to joke or make light of the situation, but is generally social and humorous during leisure hours.
Back story: Ortiz comes from a wealthy family that has made a decent fortune off of investments in inter-stellar mining in local sectors, living most of his childhood out on a lavish estate in one of the many space colonies founded near mining operations. He always found it difficult to get along with his family as they always pushed him towards academic pursuit so that he could continue his father's work in the business world. That life never appealed to him however, he never even liked wearing a suit. Jose instead expressed a great interest in sports, and had an impressive talent for it. Years of training and body building got him into the inter-planetary football league drafts, but later disputes with the Andromeda Dreadnaught's manager Tim Malarkey caused him to resign early into his third season.
Jose's dispute with his manager is fairly known news in the sport's world and made headlines when Ortiz was charged with assault on Malarkey. The charges were later dropped after the case had been claimed to have been "resolved outside of court".
Through all this, his parents continued to pressure him into once again picking up the books and continuing his academic career instead, but he refused. And, as if to affirm his opposition to his parent's will, he enlisted in the USCMC and quickly found himself at home there.
