To commerate the upcoming avp game i decided to share with the escapist one of my favorite shooters. ALIENS versus PREDATOR 2 for the PC.

The game starts off rather confusingly. Depending on witch of the 3 factions you chose, you get one of 3 opening cut-scenes, a marine group readying up for combat, General Rykov finding the predator ship you arive in or a capusal containg your egg opening up and your first steps as a facehugger.

Gameplay is hard to judge because of the varying levels of play for each species. The marines play like a fairly bland shooter but they are occasionly broken up by pant soiling scary set pieces, like a predator cloaking and setting of your familar motion tracker or a section where you have to navigate a large group of sleeping facehugger eggs. The predator plays something like an actual hunt. lurking 30 feet above your target, cloaked and waiting for the second to jump behind them, decloak and take their head clean off in a single swing of you claws. It also employs some scares, but not nearly as much as the marine campaign. Then there is my favorite species, the xenomorphs. you start off as a facehugger in a military base then gestate and grow into a full grown warrior of the hive. The fun part of the alien campaign is that while in the predators and marines are always terrified of you, the alien lets you terrify the marines and predators. Multiplayer is dead, the master server was shut down a while ago. But mods allow you to fight bots. When the server was up it played like a mixed bag of good and bad, the aliens were fun to play as but died to eaisly. The marines had the most firepower but were the eaisest to pick off. and the predators cloak was rendered mute by the marines motion tracker and the aliens ability to see color around you depending on you race, red for alien, blue for human and green for predators. but regardless of which species you chose, you will get lost. The levels in both single player and multiplayer are hard to navigate, but thats only a small nucisance.

The story is very well weaved together between the 3 races, to such an extent that you need to play all 3 races to fully understand it.

All in all though, i would reccomend this to anyone especially fans of the franchise if only to pass the time to the 16th of febuary.

I used to play this game occasionally. I would love to pick it up cheap if I could...but I don't think it's on Steam and the sellers on play.com have inflated the price a gazillion times.

Okay review, quite short and you could have split up the wall of text I think.

Pretty short review, also all in one block and no images, so an ok review. But yeah I really enjoyed AVP2 and still play it on-line occasionally being a predator is just too much fun :D, can't wait for the reboot personally.
