*WARNING: This thread is shameless self-promotion*

The more adept of you (those who actually give a damn) would've noticed that during the past two weeks I haven't been quite as active on these boards as I usually am. This can be put down to a very simple reason. I was completing the last two weeks of my degree.

As of 1PM today, I am a free man. That's right Escapists, Hey Joe has graduated and now is out there in the big scary world. Holy crap!

Anyhow, last night I also had another exhibition of my art playing in Perth. My idea was to project images from Australian beer ads that portrayed the 'Aussie Bloke' onto a wall and put some mannequins in front of it to deconstruct the male hegemonic culture that we have.

The images are below.

Here's one of what the people saw as they entered the room

And one of a bit closer up

and here's one of my mates deconstructing the myth of 'the little black dress' by wearing garbage bags and getting shitfaced

Us artsy-types are so cultured aren't we?

Anyhow, I just wanted to update you all, and say that I'll be on here a lot until November 20th because I've got the time off work to sit on the couch and ponder unemployment.

From Hey Joe

Huzzah for Hey Joe.

I didn't know you're an artist. Think you might have something in the Wollongong area anytime soon?

Well that is pretty shameless.
Had any Liberal's come by and denounce it as a waste of Government funding on some artsy crap?

Congrats to Joe, for if nothing else, than passing college while encouraging excessive drinking. Good work, glad to see the Warhol around again, miss the Quixote, and hope to be seeing more of you over these next few weeks.

We should catch up.

Totally, but I think I may have found you the woman of your dreams.

Congrats, now you have to practice your pessimism. You can't be a jaded, partly alcoholic adult without it.

But in all seriousness, good on you and I'm sure If I understood the art I would act indifferently towards it :p

Good work on sticking it out through Uni.

Cool idea, would there be any way you could make videos of the works, after they are rested from the public, and host them online so others can see? I live in Ballarat and it sounds quite interesting but I don't have the money to get to Perth any time soon.

EDIT: Selfish post in a way.

You're the Andy Warhol of the Escapist... which is a scary thought.

I'm delaying a year of my artsy college for my reasons, so it's good to see someone sticking through to the bloody end.

Anyway, great job with the pictures and good luck in the big bad world. Don't trust strangers and always look both ways before crossing the road.

Congrats on making it through! Your arty guys are so crazy with your pictures and your garbage bags and whatnot.

Don't trust strangers
Unless they have candy and a van to prove that they're trustworthy.

Woo. Artness. And yes, you should do a Wollongong show some time. Get in contact with Gallery Project and see what they'll help you with.
