All Men Cheat

I've never cheated, even though I've had many opportunities to, but I have been cheated on.
Then she broke up with me with an excuse blaming me for something which I can't really remember.
Not only did she deceive me, she even tried to shift the blame on me for it.
I was pretty upset about that. Actually, I've never been that angry before.
I didn't know I could yell that loud. She was one word from having her teeth punched in.
Luckily, I left the scene before I did anything I'd regret.
I've had better break-ups.

I believe that men and woman are equally capable of cheating. The difference is how they justify it. I for one can't find justification, but I do know of situations with friends where there was an emotional hang up or confusion. I.e. They weren't sure about the person they were with and so they went along with it, only later to realize that they wanted to be with the person they were currently with, kinda like a revelation.

I also find it morally wrong to cheat, in anything. I don't even like using cheats in Grand Theft Auto. Makes me feel dirty.

Men who cheat have more partners, so it SEEMS like there are a lot of them out there. The guys who keep it in their pants don't get as much publicity, but there are plenty of them.

OT: When I saw this title I almost hulked out.

I know a lot of guys that have cheated and a lot of guys that have slept with other guys' girlfriends.

However I know a lot of girls that have cheated on their boyfriends and a lot of girls that have slept with other girls' boyfriends.

All too often they're sleeping with their bestfriend's boyfriend/girlfriend.

I've never cheated but that's probably because, even though I dated a lot of girls, I had commitment issues which was like a safety net for me to keep seeing whoever I wanted to.

But I found someone worth settling down with and now the thought of sleeping with someone else - if it would upset her - repulses me. That doesn't mean I don't catch myself thinking about it but usually then I remember how my life has changed.

So I think a lot of people are in relationships that cheat never really loved the person they were with in the first place but simply wounded up in a relationship out of convenience and perhaps a guy is more inclined to do this.

However two of my closest friends went through a phrase - each being dumped at the same time - of sleeping with girls that had boyfriends.

Their excuse was that if the girls were happy, they never would have cheated. So I don't give a shit about this girl deliberately poaching girls' boyfriends for sport but saying that all men cheat is bullshit sister and you're an ignorant little hussy.

I wouldn't cheat, I wouldn't have sex with a girl who's in a relationship either.
The only problem there is that if they don't tell me they're in a relationship and still go for it. How am I (or somoene else) supposed to know, it ain't exactly a good start to ask if they are in a relationship if they're hitting on you?!!

The reason I bring it up is because I'm sure people convince themselves of both of these things so they can feel like they are ahead of the game and they wont be fooled like everyone else. As in- all men cheat so I'm not really doing a bad thing by cheating on/with someone.
A way to protect themselves from getting hurt and excuse their shitty behaviour at the same time.

Every single person I've heard use this reasoning has backed it up by saying they were basically 'traumatised' (some using that word...) by a man cheating on them so that's why we should all actually approve of their actions rather than disapprove: like they're actually getting even on men on behalf of all women.

Needless to say, these people are just looking for a way to excuse themselves from their behaviour since by being so scared of being cheated on and then going around helping men cheat on their girlfriends she's being a giant hypocrite: and nobody wants to admit to being one.

As for the bonus question, I've never cheated and never been cheated on, but my last boyfriend warned me that he was liable to cheat on me with this other girl he'd been crazy about for years, if she offered. No I don't know why I didn't break up with him as it should have been obvious then that I just didn't match up to this girl in his eyes, but he broke up with me a year later and was soon chasing after her once again. (And she's clearly not interested and never has been...)

That's really sad and now I feel sad.

I told my girlfriend that I sometimes still have flashes of a girl I was seeing before her and she stayed with me too. Then eventually I realised how incredible she was for not running for the hills and fell in love with her.

So, it's not so bad, some guys can be changed, I guess, some guys are just idiots.

Lately, this girl has developed a "taste" for men in relationships, she honestly has some sort of radar and she's certainly clocked up a high number of them.

Rather than feeling guilty about what she's doing, she seems almost proud of it, as if she's somehow one-upping the other girls and making them look stupid. Her rationale is that "all men cheat" and seems to think that by fucking other people's boyfriends she's ahead of the game, in on a secret other girls are blind to. This didn't go down to well at the time, especially considering the fact that basically every other person in the room at the time was in a relationship.

OK, the important part of this is the 'radar' bit. What it means is your friend has the ability to find guys who are both in relationships and either drunk enough or willing enough to sleep with someone outside them. She has a Douchebag-radar, not a relationship radar.

Also, the very generalised topic didn't seem to sit all that well with people, any more than if you'd told the same story with the title "All women are sluts" which is the other route this story could have taken from your description.

and for personal experience, never cheated and been cheated on twice so... that's 2/3 relationships where I've been cheated on (Marvelous hasn't had that many ;_ but I'm just assuming I was dating the wrong women like your friends sleeping with the wrong men.

If your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/sex robot/other offered you a 'hall pass' IE; a chance to go sleep with someone else without her/him/it having a problem with it - would you take that chance or would you prefer not to?

I probably would but I'd have to make sure she was completely OK with it and not just trying to make me happy or whatever.

Also I'd only use it out of curiosity or if I wanted to prove a point... I can't really explain that very well without sounding like a douche.

In my experience girls are the major cheaters. Known a ton of girls who cheated on their boyfriends, but I don't know any guys who ever did it. As for myself; I never cheated, but I've been "the other guy" way too many times.

All men before being socially harangued into feeling that their inclinations towards promiscuity are "bad" cheat.

Your friend is right, just because a guy cheats doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings for whoever his main is at the moment, it's just a part of being a guy.

Saying otherwise is just bs.

Is anyone naturally monogamous? NO. Therefore everyone is predisposed to cheating. Social conditioning can change the feelings towards cheating but not the propensity for it.

I expect the majority of men (and women) would cheat if approached in the right way or at a vulnerable moment of stress in the relationship. But I'm sure a minority would stay strong or not be tempted at all - either because they're obsessed with their partner or they can look ahead at the probable consequence of the actions and don't want to risk them/bear a burden of guilt, especially if they have children. Plus some would just not like her attitude towards the relationship they value.
