I've been thinking about getting this All Points Bulletin game, but I have a few doubts. One is that I keep getting conflicted messages about wether I can play it or not. The other is I've seen plenty of mixed reviews about it. So for those of you who know....

1: Can I play it? While I don't feel like posting full system specs here, I'll say that I can play Fallout 3:GOTY on High, Oblivion (with Operation Optimization installed) maxed, Crysis on Medium-High, GW on max, BF2142 on high, Sins on high and several other games well.

2: Is there a demo that I can download to try, a la GW or WoW? Or is this a buy and live with it deal?

3: Is the game actually any good, or is it too niche?

I wish I could speak with first hand knowledge but here's what I've got...

1-I'm sure you can.

2-There isn't but I wish there was.

3-It seems like it is. I watched a friend play it for awhile and the customization seems pretty sweet. Doesn't seem like there's much to it, but sometimes simple is all you need. See TF2.

1) I have a similar graphics capability as you do, and was able to run APB. However, I had the graphics set to minimum. (It still looked really nice, and I probably could of run it on much higher settings)

2) There was a beta a little while ago, but you missed out. As of yet there aren't any free trials. Sorry.

3) It's pretty fun and as soon as I'm not broke I'm buying it.

You played it? Hows the combat? Is it good, or "good for an MMO"?

I played the beta, It was fun for about 4 hours until I reaslised all the "Missions" always ended up being the same. The customization was also not as "EPIC" as I first thought.

If there was no mounthly fee I may have bought it, but I just can not justify paying to play a mediocore at best game.

The Combat is average compared to games like GTA or SR2, but compared to MMOs it's fantastic.

You know....I feel kinda stupid now. I remembered I got a Beta key for this when the beta was out....but I deleted it for some stupid reason without even downloading it.

I played the beta with a nVidia 9400, so don't worry about that.

I dunno, maybe try checking steam, i wouldn't know where else to look

In the beta, they had about 3 variations of missions, all of which sucked horribly. combat was crap, and cars drove like the road was made entirely of butter, and the wheels were finely sculpted of ice. You could probably spin out of control in that POS going 5 mph.

1: You should be fine for it, my computer can't run all those games in those settings yet I can still play (It can get extremely laggy for me at times though)

2: I don't think there's a demo out yet.

3: Very good, it's not the traditional MMO, there isn't end-game content and whilst you may be doin ghte same missions repeatedly the fact you get grouped against other people and have to go to different locations to complete the quest every time keeps it fresh.

I will warn you that there are some pretty big balance problems at the moment.

I tried the Beta for about an hour. Audio was choppy, graphic textures were locked to low-rez despite my PC being decent enough, cars did indeed handle like dogshite.

Didn't get out of the training area so I don't know how the customisation works, which is all I really wanted to try it for.

I think it could be good, mind you.

I learned not to not buy an MMO outright without trying a demo, but I think I'm going to change that for SW:TOR. I was going to check APB out, but it doesn't have any demos yet :(

Though I know it wouldn't be permanent. Vindictus and SW:TOR are right around the corner for me.

Mine is a bit worse than yours, and my PC struggled to run it. Granted that could just be attributed do the outstanding lag I get in MMO's.

I'd check here:

Look for "APB - Beta Version"

1) They did have a beta but for now you have to buy the game($50) and pay a monthly fee($10/month)You can also buy blocks of hours if you don't want to play monthly. I believe you get 50 hours when you buy the game.
2)I wrote a review here [http://www.fragworld.org/frag/massive-multiplayer/all-points-bulletin.html]

Basically if you like GTA you will like this game. The customization of your car, avatar and music is great. Missions and multiplayer are fun. I just don't think there is enough content and variety for a monthly fee.
