I've been noticing a trend recently, and maybe so have you. It seems that while most sequels are poor nock offs of the original, some slip through the cracks and somehow manage to be good, or even better in some extreemly rare circumstances. But, it seems that no prequel has ever been good. Well, okay, Star wars III was pretty awesome in bits, so let me rephrase that...

I defy you to prove to me that there has ever been a prequel that was as good or better than the thing it is prequelizing (not a word).

hmmm... some i believe are.
Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 0 are better than the first easily.

Well, considering that almost every Zelda game comes before the original on the timeline(s)...

You have been proven wrong.

They win the thread, now give them their prize.

As was said before, MGS3 and DMC3.
The Hobbit was better than The Fellowship of the Ring *ducks for cover*
Underworld 3 was the best Underworld in my opinion.
The Scorpion King was less awful than The Mummy.
The new Star Trek movie is my favourite.
San Andreas in technically a prequel to GTA III, and it was better.
Fatal Frame II was better than I, but not as good as III.

They're two very different, but very good novels.

The Lord of The Rings is more of an epic tale of high fantasy, whereas the Hobbit is more like a great big, light-hearted adventure.

I love them both equally though.

Prequel:A prequel is a work that portrays events and/or aspects of a previously completed narrative, but is set prior to the existing narrative.

Now what came first The Hobbit or the Fellowship of the Rings?

I'll give you a hint...It has 13 dwarfs, a hobbit, a Wizard and a Dragon.

Are we talking movie only, or games also? Because if we're going games, them MGS3 and DMC3 were far superior to the first in either series.

If movies only, then I can't disprove you because I don't watch many movies, but someone else probably can.

When you think about it....KOTOR is a prequel. It's set 4000 thousand years before starwars.

All the good examples has already been mentionned.
