All signs point to PS3

Secondly, what memory should I get? My 360 is 20GB, which is enough as I tend to delete games after I play them, but I've seen PS3's with a lot greater memory, making me think that perhaps games on there take up more space?

I believe my PS3 has 80-120GB or something(it's a PS3 Slim at least). I probably got around 50 games for it and still plenty of room left. A few games have to be installed, which takes up extra space apart from save spots and patches, but it's far from many.

As for the debate about which is best;
I got both a PS3 and 360. Quit playing my 360 entirely when I got the PS3 and really enjoyed it. When put next to each other I think the PS3 wins in everything apart from the controller.
Better(and many, MANY more) exclusives, free online play if you're into that, better menus and the console doesn't sound like an airplane about to take off... The exclusives and menus being better is pretty subjective, but it's what I think.
I recently started playing on my 360 again and while I enjoy it I still don't think it holds up even close to my PS3 unless you're playing a FPS game. I doubt you'll regret getting a PS3.

I own a PS3 and that is what works for me. I think you should consider what you want out of your machine as well as how much you care about your current 360 library because it is hard to just give up games like that.

On a side note, I've never understood the complaints about the controllers. I've always known the playstation controller so I guess that is just what I'm used to but the way games are made today it is real easy for me to pick up a 360 controller and play with friends. I might get my ass handed to me a for a few rounds but I can catch up quickly.

This way, if you choose, you can store all of your media as well as what you would normally have on the console in terms of saves and downloaded games/content.

Not too sure, man. I haven't had any first-hand experience with an SSD. I saw a video of Windows XP's boot time being cut by a third from a 7200 RPM, so I'd imagine it would do wonders for a game's loading times, as well as installation and transfer rates.

Not true. I have a lot of great multiplayer experiences on my PS3. I still play Unreal Tournament 3 more than I should, and Burnout Paradise is always fun online. Great community within both games. If the OP stays away from obvious hazards like CoD, he can find some of the gems that the PS3 multiplayer community has to offer.

Honestly, I've had trouble going back to my 360 after picking up a PS3. PSN isn't as well designed as Xbox Live, but if you prefer the Dualshock to the 360's pad, I'd suggest going for it.

Also, it's a fairly well put-together piece of machinery. If someone as incompetent as myself can take apart the disc drive, put the system back together, and still play it, it must be solid.

My grudge with the PS3 controller is that it tries to imitate triggers... very badly so. I don't know about you, but when games force me to use L2/R2 a lot it feels really uncomfortable. Bought some clip-on triggers, but the damn things didn't stay on! :<

As long as you purchase the last 3 Ratchet and Clank games (which you can get cheapy cheap now) with said PS3 then you will not be disappointed.

The cool thing about owning a PS3 is that between a PS3 and a good PC you can have most good 360 games without even owning that console. And because its online doesn't cost any money, the PS3 is more ideal for players who only use online multiplayer once in a while.

On the other hand, Sony pissed me off into an unstoppable rage recently and I can't recommend buying the console for that reason alone.

I was fine that they got hacked. I was fine that they gave us really pathetic rewards for staying loyal to them. But then to take away those rewards NOT EVEN A MONTH after they put them out WITH NO WARNING for NO REASON was a real dick move.

Actually, Sony said the Welcome Back program would only last a month. :s The rewards, when downloaded, were permanent(save for PS+), but their availability was limited to a month. This was to ensure they don't utterly destroy the profits of the developers who created the games they were offering for free. Even then, should you end up losing your rewards, whether accidental or permanent, you can go to your downloads screen and just download it again for no charge.

I recommend PS3. I've had many fun times with mine.

There is no excuse -- AT ALL -- to get rid of that "Welcome Back" program. I decided to wait a couple of weeks to download because, A, I didn't know that the time was limited, B, I wanted to wait until the downloads from their servers slowed down so I didn't have to leave my PS3 on for 3 days to download one game, and C, because I was really thinking about which games I wanted.

And then Nintendo comes around and suddenly just throws TWENTY FREE GAMES as an APOLOGY FOR MAKING THEIR PRODUCT CHEAPER!

I kinda felt like their selection of games for the reward was more like an advertisement because of the fact they were old with sequels out or on the way. :s

If you have the money and prefer the games available for the PS3, don't think about it, switch. Else, don't; no point spending money on a console you'll later want to replace; a couple of my friends did that and later regretted it. Personally I prefer the 360, mainly because of games available, but hey, if you prefer what's on the PS3, make the switch if you can.

I have both. In terms of use, controls etc I prefer 360, I find PS3 contorller small, the interface a bit more clunky and some insane patch download sizes.. That said, The exclusive titles are waaaaaaay better.

Well, I assume you have a bunch of games for the 360, so unless you want to end up spending more money, I'd just buy another 360. Unless you're dying for some PS3 exclusive.

sorry but because something broke, i dont see why that is a sign to get something of the opposite make? its like my pc breaking and going out and getting a mac... why not just get a newer more reliable xbox? like sergeantAnt said, how many games do you have for your xbox? plus what do all your friends have

It's not so much that the games I have on 360 I'll play - because I've pretty much completed everything I want to on 360 - just waiting for the November releases. It's more than I'll kind of feel that everything I've achieved is a waste. But, saying that, I guess it's the experience of playing anyway; besides (and this answers the other question) I don't have a mega plethora of friend on XBL, and don't tend to play online often. My housemate has one, and we sometimes share games etc, but he was also talking about getting a PS3.

I have a PC, Xbox360 and PS3. The only one I don't use is the PS3. The games are great, but I don't like the Control pad with the squishy triggers. Its that bad that I actually dont play through most of the PS3's exclusives as it bothers me so much. Check you can get on with the controller before you decide.

If you ever wanted to own a PS3, now is the time (especially since the prices are low). Not to mention there is literally a stream of great games that are coming out this year that you will definitely enjoy. Memory is definitely not an issue. I've had my 60 GB for 3 years and I have over 20 games with plenty of memory to spare (not to mention the demos and PSN titles that I have downloaded).

No, it's true. I have both. The multiplayer experience on the 360 is quite simply, better. It is better designed and has the more, uh, socially competent community. Not even considering CoD. Thus have my experiences convinced me.

Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty(four hours long -_-) and A Crack in Time.

No, it's true. I have both. The multiplayer experience on the 360 is quite simply, better. It is better designed and has the more, uh, socially competent community. Not even considering CoD. Thus have my experiences convinced me.

I can understand it being better designed, since MS has decent dedicated servers under their belt, and I'm not quite sure what the PSN sports in that regard, but if I want a socially competent community, I typically go with my PC games. I have to admit that most of my multiplayer experiences come from my PC, but I still do occasionally dabble in console multiplayer, don't get me wrong.

I've personally never tried the 360 multiplayer aside from my girlfriend's stepbrother practically forcing me to play MW2 with him (hated it, by the way, and that seeded my hatred of the series post-CoD4), but I've heard accounts of friendly people on other games. If you throw all the screaming CoD fanboys aside, I can see that a friendly multiplayer community is emphasized more on the 360. I was just saying that it's very possible to have a similar experience on the PS3, as I have with Burnout and Unreal.
