All Star Superman

I know Superman is quite an unpopular superhero on the Escapist, but I was wondering if the All Star series of comics can be read and enjoyed with out prior knowledge of other Superman comics.

I've been interested in getting into comics for a while, but none have really quite caught my attention as this one. Recommendations for other good comics to start out with are also more then welcome.

Watchmen and Scott Pilgrim are the only graphic novels I've ever read and they were fantastic.

Watchmen and Scott Pilgrim are the only graphic novels I've ever read and they were fantastic.

I've read The Watchmen, that was a few years back and really enjoyed it. I'm looking more for the main marvel and DC characters though, like Iron man or the Green Lantern. I still ahve a look into Scott Pilgrim since you rate it up there with The Watchmen.
