It was pretty bad when I played it.
It isn't long, at all, you'll probably finish it within the afternoon (Heck, I did it in two sittings on the weekend). The characters aren't that good, the dialogue isn't good and honestly, every single character annoyed the crap out of me. That is a pretty big deal to me as is, because in a game like Alpha Protocol where there are a good 30 or so characters, it is very difficult to find someone who would annoy you, but Obsidian found a way to do it.
Buggy on the PC? I played it on the Xbox unfortunatly so I wouldn't have much inside info on that, but from what I've heard, yes. Yes it is. Even without a patch, its still an eyesore to play. Every animation looks like it was rushed and shoved into the game half finished. I mean, and this may sound jaded, but I actually believe that this game isn't pretty in the least.
Finally, it is a bit of a pain in the ass. The game practically shoves Sneaking into your face in intentional and unintentional ways. For one, they'll place you constantly outnumbered and out gunned and usually in an area where you can't see everyone shooting at you. Another example is that unless you spend every bit of your money and stats on improving, it becomes a real pain in the ass to get into gunfights. Finally, they make the sneaking class way to overpowered, in the first few levels of the game, a Spy can get an ability that tells him
Where everyone is in an area.
How many there are
A partial get out of jail free card when spotted
and a one hit kill that a monkey could preform.
By the end of the game, the Spy is practically invincible because They get a move that lets them move without being seen for 30 seconds.
In short, I wouldn't recommend getting it. But, then again, I'm one of the people who regretted buying it before I even got out of the first set of missions.
