Okay, so I bought Alpha Protocol recently. I'm currently finishing War for Cybertron first and then I've got Red Dead Redemption to try. Truth is, I think I'm putting off Alpha Protocol out of fear of being disapointed.

A couple of my co-workers who've played the game hated it. However, one of them later said that if you stick with it, it actually becomes pretty damn good. So I am asking people here what their experience with the game is before I actualy give it a go.

If you're a casual gamer who only cares about good review, shiny graphics and shooters then you'll be disappointed. If you're the kind of gamer that appreciates a great RPG with a solid story and phenomenal choices that actually matter and good RPG elements that change gameplay (a lot) then you will love it. It has a great replay value. I played through it 4 times.

I am currently trying my best to play it. The thing is I love the interactions and talking bits but I cant stand the actual gameplay. So I would say the game is worth playing and I am sure if you apply some stick-to-wittedness it could be an enjoyable experiance. Personally I would save Red Dead for last because when I started playing that I couldnt stop until the end. I guess a question I have for you is how is War for Cybertron, from what I have seen it just seems like a pretty generic third person shooter.

i love this game, they have some weak points without a doubt (the very weak character customization. On the bright side you can make your cahracter look like the love child of Gordon Freeman and Tony Stark) but overall it's a very well thought out game with surprisingly hard choices, and of course every choice has a result.

Well, I'm biased since I'm a huge TF fan, but I like the game quite a lot. It is indeed a third person shooter, but I wouldn't call it generic. The weapons are fun, the fighting is quite well done, the co-op is awesome, and then of course there's the transformations...

It you're looking for a decent RPG, you may as well return it. As a stealth and action game, it's alright. Not that great in my honest opinion.

You're better off playing Red Dead Redemption first.

I have defined it. It is like MGS and Mass Effect had a retarded baby. A baby who has a problem with wanting to punch people in the face for no good reason. And as ridiculous as the punching a person in the face while they are in cover sounds like a poor tactic IT ISN'T!!!! I found the combat to be a typical 3rd person cover shooter where the AI had no respect for the rules of cover.

Do you not enjoy RPG/FPS? (Deus Ex, System Shock, Bioshock, Vampire the Masquerade, etc)
Do you not enjoy games that have actual consequences for your choices in the game?
Do you mind some parts of a game being imbalanced?
Do minor bugs detract heavily from your gaming experience?

If you answered no to all these questions, and are playing on the pc version, I'll say for near certain that you'll have a smashing good time. If you're not playing on pc, or said yes to any of those, I don't really know what to tell you as your perspective on gaming is alien to my own.

It's not the graphics I mind, it's the animations and seeming weakness of the combat. I would play RDR first, the pacing is masterfull.

The only problem I had was the boss fights, which occasionally stump me if I did pick out the right 'skill set' for the time.

10 Shotguns to the Face, 5 grenades and a few pistol whips, and some enemies still don't die...stupid Tech and Sneak mechanics.

Typical Obsidian stuff - solid foundations that crumble under an armada of bugs. The stealth and combat is wonky, and about the only thing it has above just about any RPG I could care to name is the much-discussed choice system. As an RPG, you could do much better. As an actioner, it's even worse.
