Ok guys, I have been thinking for quite a bit about who my favorite anime characters are. I suppose I feel like sharing them and hope you guys will do the same. However, this is not a versus thread, so please refrain from treating it like one. List your top ten and explain if you desire to.

My top ten:

1)Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
2)Spike Speigal (Cowboy Bebop)
3)Bon Kurei (One Piece)
4)Alexander Armstrong (Full Metal Alchemist)
5)Gin (Samurai Champloo)
6)Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
7)Alucard (Hellsing)
8)Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist)
9)Tony Tony Chopper (One Piece)
10)Jiraya (Naruto)

(By the way, I am not a Naruto fan, but have watched most of the series and definitely like Jiraya, however, halfway through Shippuden I found the show unbearably dull and quit watching)

Well, I never really though about it, I guess, if I had to choose, Spike, Rei Ayanami, Eureka, Konata, Chiyo, Osaka, Tomo, and Eri Sawichka "SP" who was the only character on School Rumble that felt a little bit developed.

I don't think I have enough favorites to list 10, but I know Gohan's right at the top. The way his character developed always interested me. Right from the beginning, when he's a simpering crybaby, you know he's got potential, and he proves it when he finally surpasses his father, Vegeta and just about everyone else at the end of the Cell Saga. Most importantly, though, when it's all over and he's got no reason to fight anymore... He goes for a life of normalcy. Despite it all, he still aspires to be a scholar, just like he did when he was a kid, and he keeps right on reaching for that dream. It's admirable.

This is not it, because in about 5 minutes, once I stop to think about it, this list will change, and then it will change 5 minutes later, but still, for the moment, my list is:

10: Hidan (Naruto) Not a big fan of the series, but I DID like the villains.
9: Ulquiorra (Bleach) Same case for Bleach. The villains are what kept me reading.
8: Natsu (Fairy Tail) I've only started seeing this series recently, but I have a bias for dragons (what his powers are based off of)
7: Rob Lucci (One Piece) There are gonna be plenty of villains on this list, people...
6: Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho) He was a jackass that I didn't hate.
5: Eneru (One Piece) My favorite example of the "god complex" anime villain.
4: Goku (Dragonball Z) This is more nostalgia than anything else...
3: L/Light Yagami (Death Note) I put them in the same spot because my favorite part of the series was their interactions with each other. Apart, they would have been much lower.
2: Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist) I can understand the basic parts of his motivation, and just like his personality.
1: Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) He has all the aspects of a character that normally I can't stand, but for some reason, I just like this character. I think it's a case of "whole more than sum of parts" thing

also, I need to re-watch Cowboy Bebop, and finish Samurai Champloo (that was a good series... stupid cable company...)

This is all just off the top of my head right now, but 1-3 are definitely what I would choose. One Piece was the first anime I really started watching and the reason is really Luffy, he is just a very likable character. Lelouch is second because he sacrifices a ton just to reach his goal and has a ton of charisma and that is what drew me in. Spike is third because his demeanor is cool and collected, he doesn't fall under pressure and he makes it seem like he is invincible.

1. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
2. Lelouch Lamporouge(sp?) (Code Geass)
3. Spike Spiegal (Cowboy Bebop)
4. Tomoya Okazaki (Clannad)
5. Red Haired Shanks (One Piece)
6. Firo Prochainezo (Baccano)
7. Sunohara (Clannad)
8. Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
9. Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass)
10. Onizuka (Great Teacher Onizuka)

My top ten are as follows. (They are in no exact order.)

1. Erza Scarlet. (Fairy Tail)

2. Sanji. (One Piece)

3. Juracule Mihawk. (One Piece) (I've only recently got into One Piece, but this guy is just awesome. Makes me wonder though, does he have some sort of unexplained devil fruit power, or is he just incredibly strong? (One Piece)

4. L (Death Note)

5. Hibari Kyoya (Hitman Reborn)

6. Vongola Primo Gitto AKA Ieyastsu Sawada (Hitman Reborn) (I realise this character is already long dead and he only really has a few scenes, but damm is he badass.)

7. Shunsui Kyoraku (Bleach)

8. Sebastian Michaelis (Black Butler)

9. Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing. (Hellsing)

10. General Cross Marian (D-Gray Man)
