What? I'm not secretly in love with Alyx "the fox" Vance. I mean what would even give you that idea? That's crazy. Seriously.

I mean SURE I might have 1 giant mural of her painted next to my chair in my game lounge, but that's just because I like Half Life 2 a lot. The nightwear she is in isn't creepy, I just wanted her to look comfortable. We wouldn't want her uncomfortable would we? Besides I bet her clothes are like, copywrited or something. Right? Right.

Anyways she is gorgeous and smart, and kills with such grace and charm. Also she doesn't like ctas like every other girl you meet online. No she likes dogs. What a fox.

Held against other companion characters in most games she is a godsend. She actively helps and shuts her hole when you're busy.

They really put a lot of work into making her believable and likeable- play the commentary for ep 1
She's caring, competent, just a little bit goofy- very well characterised.

She is a well developed character with a believable personality, whereas most female characters are either only there for eye-candy, or they simply exist so that they can be love interests.

Yeah, I'd have to go with this.
Being one of the only female characters that's believable makes her go a long way in my opinion. She's also one of the few supporting characters I've ever cared about in a game for that matter.

Honestly? I have NO CLUE.

But there's just something about her that made me like her. She's one of two characters in my entire gaming catalog that I grew attached to. The other was Jenny from The Darkness.

And we all know how that ends.

She's a hot, black, nerdy, seemingly attainable female character that subtly wants to jump your character's bones. She may not dress like BloodRayne, but she's popular for the same reasons.

What is there so great about Alyx Vance?
I've heard lot of people on this site say that she is better than most other (female) game characters.
However i really don't get what's so special about here. :S
Isn't she just a normal character like all the others?

I think you'll find it's mainly the Meryl Dandridge behind the character.

Because she has a believable personality, she's cute in a girl next door kinda way and her dialogue is well written. Also I like her voice. Compare her to Lara Croft and the likes of her and you'll see why people like Alyx the most.

It's funny how half of the replies are "She's believable and well-developed," and the other half is "She's annoying" or "No clue."

I don't know if that says more about the group that says the latter than the first.

Anyway, I say she's a person I'd like to be friends with. I have a girlfriend, so most bimbos would not interest me in the least, be Alyx seems like a person I'd actually like to have a chat with over a cup of coffee.
