Alyx Vance

Maybe a stupid question, but I just have to know.

What is there so great about Alyx Vance?
I've heard lot of people on this site say that she is better than most other (female) game characters.
However i really don't get what's so special about here. :S
Isn't she just a normal character like all the others?

Pretty much. It's because she's one of the only free-thinking human beings you'll see in the game, and after 9 hours you kind of get attached to the character.

She's apparently the only female game character in the history of ever to have normal sized chest-based lady parts. I think that's getting more common these days anyway.

Apart from that, I don't really know. Maybe it's just nice having someone to talking in the Half-Life games. When you have to stick with ol' Woodplank Freeman, it's good to have some chatter.
