Yes i played Mass effect and loved it. No i haven't played mass effect 2, and i have no idea what it's about.

Am i a heretic for not having played the game, and not really actually caring about playing it? I probably could buy it...

I guess what i'm trying to ask is: "is it really that good that i should bother playing it?"

Given the lack of a coherent structure built around the mass effect games. no. not a heretic.

kind of weird since ME2 imho is the better of the two? yes. Now you might end up not agreeing with that, but it is worth playing to find out.

No. You're not a heretic for not playing a video game. I don't understand how you can love ME1 and not take an interest in ME2, but still, the answer stands and it is your choice in the end.

I haven't played either yet and I won't be doing so until they are released (available for under £10).

It's just a game. Play it or don't play it. It shouldn't have anything to do with EA sending people to take you in the middle of the night.

(Nobody expects the EA Inquisition!)

I love the Imperium of Man =3.

Your not a heretic.I tend to be a bit the other way around, I play a sequel and enjoy it a lot, but even tho people say the first one is as good or even better I still just wont bother playing it.

*ahem* Burn the heretic, purge the unclean!

As a Bioware fanboy, I think you are an idiot, but I suppose that's what the Sesame Street boys call an 'opinion'.

Unless you are spending your free time indulging in Slaaneshi rituals in it's stead, you are not exactly a 'heretic'.

Nah, you're no heretic, if you can even be labelled one for not playing a damn game.

I haven't played it either and I don't really care to. Playing the first game became a chore after a while and I had to bloody reload my game several times to leave a planet and level up, just so I could stop from killing Urdot Wrex.

Actually, Urdnot Wrex would probably be the main draw for me to play the second one, if anything. Fuck he was cool.

I didn't like Mass Effect...at all, and I'm not a heretiic.

In fact today I had a semi-spas attack at a friend due to this. I think I...over-reacted a bit.

You're not missing much. It's now a generic action shooter, and Wrex isn't a party member.

You will miss a fair amount by not playing it and using your save games form the original, as well as some fan service for the forumites at the Bioware social forum:
like refund guy and blasto.

I'm doing a second playthrough at the moment, I seem to have picked up interest in it again after not caring about it on my first playthrough. Wierd.

He's still cool, though. Chilling out, maxing, relaxing, uniting some Korgan clans into a coherent group which will inevitably have dangerous long-term ramifications for the safety of the galaxy...

I completely fail to understand your position. You really enjoyed the first game, but haven't bothered to play the sequel, because you don't know if it'll be good? Here's a hint: if you liked (loved, even!) the first, you'll love the second too. Unless you're a whiny fanboy who will complain "OMG they made combat better RUINED FOREVER!!1!", but you don't really come off that way.

It's great, play it, end of story.
