Am I over-reacting?

Now before I begin, let me be clear that this little issue isn't a deal breaker for me. I'm not going into angry fits of rage, I'm not writing nasty e-mails, I'm not gonna make empty promises of boycotts...I'm gonna mildly complain on message boards and then accept it. That clear? Okay, cool.

Today I saw an article on the upcoming advanced port for Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers on the Nintendo 3DS. In this article, they showed off the cover art, which you can see here.

And...well...I don't like this cover art. I think it was a bad move on their part. I mean the only highlighted main focus character isn't even the main character (that's the first dude on her left side, the one with the goggles on his hair. She is the main heroine though) and they even cut off half of her face.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against a little sex appeal to advertise a game, heck, I've even bought a few games based on that concept in the past (horrible horrible games...) But this just makes me think more of like cheesy poster ads than the actual cover art.

I'm hoping that maybe they'll use different artwork for the cover when/if it gets confirmed for stateside release, but they aren't exactly high hopes right now.

Am I making a mountain out of a molehill here to say that this kinda bothers me, or do you think something like this is an example of the trivial things gamers should be annoyed by?

Yes, you are over-reacting, but I see where you are coming from, If it was the main character, you wouldn't have any grips with it, who is the character on the box?

Also, have you heard anything about an English release?

Even if she were the main character (as in the one the player controls) I still wouldn't be super happy that they decided to cut off half her face to put her on the cover like that.

No word on English release yet. They're probably going to wait a little while. I mean right now there's so much focus on Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Golden (and other upcoming titles they're publishing like Code of Princess)

I'm thinking (and by that I mean hoping) after Persona 4 cools down some they'll bring out Eternal Punishment for the PSP, and then they can get around to Soul Hackers.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited to pick those up. As soon as I get them though I've gotta start writing down stuff to make the comics lol

So to me both of those games are half play, half work

Um... this is the cover art you find weird? If it's out of character for this game (which I know very little about) then that's understandable, but if you're talking about it being a strange practice to sell a game with a sexy main heroine on the box then:

Overacting because you think it?s annoying and hope it gets changed? No, that is having an opinion. If you were petitioning them to change it or threatening to boycott the game then you would be overacting.

On topic, I wouldn't say you're overreacting, I would just worry more about the game content than the box art if I were you. I tend not to really care what's on the front of the box when I buy a game.
