I grew up playing RPGs like Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire. I really miss the old days where RPGs told a good story and had casual point and click combat.
This next statement pretty much refers to RPGs that came out during the reign of PS1 and any thereafter.
I for one, enjoyed being able to have casual combat and cast cool spells and be able to sit back and watch said spells and actually enjoy them. The game developers put a lot of time into the effects used, but with the way RPGs have evolved, we don't really have a chance to enjoy them anymore. Granted, yes, those spells and especially summons can get rather annoying after the first dozen or so times, maybe even sooner depending on the person. But that's why games like FFX had a feature where you didn't have to watch the entire summon.
Call me old or whatever you may, but with all the in your face combat and the minds of most gamers wanting instant gratification, I feel like I'm a dying breed. Am I alone on this?
