OK, now I have your attention. I'm willing bet that you were just about to reply with hate, informing me that I am never the only one, and possibly throwing in a quick jab at my comprehension of the English language.

Well, don't. And not just because the title was essentially attention-bait. See, when someone asks, "Am I the only one.." they aren't asking it in a literal sense. They aren't actually considering that they are the only person on Earth who, for example, enjoyed Modern Warfare 2. They KNOW they are never the only one, it's just a figure of speech. Is it a stupid figure of speech? Sure, but try to name one that DOESN'T collapse under the scrutiny of logic. So I guess what I'm saying is...Stop taking everything you read literally, assuming that everyone is an idiot, and loosen that stick lodged in your ass.

To add discussion value, what topics/responses are you tired of seeing on these forums?

Well played, good sir.

In response to your question, I am becoming increasingly distraught with the "... with a twist!" threads.

You're NEVER the only one... Wait, it was just bait? Dammit!

Well I'm getting sick of those "Ask a (Insert nationality here)" type threads. We had a sudden storm of them about a month ago, bloody ridiculous.

Well, since the "Why do people have different opinions from me?" threads have died down I'm actually feeling pretty good about the forums right now.

Yes you are the only one.

Sorry...

People posting "I'm the only one" just have an opinion different that the majority (the mako in ME1 was awesome!) and are trying to find others with their opinion. They almost always are not the only one.

Misleading titles are a big pet-peeve of mine...

Oh wait.

Okay, I guess everyone deserves a soapbox moment every now and then if they have something to say they feel is important, but actually making a topic with a relevant title would possibly go a long way to letting you be taken seriously. As it stands I'm significantly annoyed because I am already one of the people who doesn't instantly respond with hate. Then again, maybe I have simply yet to get tired of them.

Congratulations, Sir...

"What do you hate", Zombie apocalypse, and MW2 hate all need to go away. They're annoying, and occur all too often. When I start a thread, I try to make it unique, like my disco thread, or "Beef Jerky Discussion". These are true thinking man's threads, which elevate him beyond the primates that climb the trees of the Youtube jungle. (I spent way too much time trying to find intelligence there before I found this site.)

Edit: Speaking of threads, I'm working on a correlation theory between the appearance of the Scary Thread on the first page and rises in trolling. Due to it leaving the basement temporarily, the trolls are able to climb the stairs that it lurks near, and wreak havoc on the citizens of the Escapist.

I was actually about to say, "Yes, you are the only one. Revel in your solitude." Or something along those lines.

Anyway, I don't take what I read literally. I know that most people write how they would speak, and that's riddled with allusions, similes, and a great many other things. If I were to take everything I read literally...well, it might drive me insane. XD

Everyone knows it's not literal. Everyone also likes to *****.
I would have figured this was obvious by now.

Anyway, what really bugs me is "hottest woman" type threads. They haven't been around for a while, but they used to be everywhere.
So fucking annoying. And everyone would go about posting pictures of celebrities like it WASN'T creepy and gross.
Ugh.

uhh! what am i going to do with all this rage now :p, oh yeah.

seriously, attention bait?, why not just try to get the attention of those interested in the subject instead of just wanting as many people as possible to see what YOU wrote, what do think is funny is that you are not the only one who has posted that opinion.

and i dont think people get mad because they take it literally, they get mad because of the Jante law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jante_Law) or maybe that just my Danish blood, or because most of those threads are pretty stupid, its the thread equivalent of rub on tan, a popped collar and spiky hair.

whenever rap or hip hop is mentioned, someone always says "i like rap but hip hop is crap" or "i like hip hop but rap is crap". And i cant help myself but ask wtf? its the same .if i was really mean id ask please don't defend it until you understand it. nothing irks me more than this on the escapists.

I really dislike the "with a twist" threads. About two thirds of the time the twist is just annoying and lame, so I don't post in them.

I am sick of good threads trying to promote strong discussion of more obscure topics being eclipsed by every fucking MW2 Zombie Apocalypse thread that comes along.

I also don't like it when forum posters ignore threads that have long, but well thought out topics, because they are too lazy to read the whole thing through.

I dislike the threads that talk about something happening to you according to the most recent game you played. Ex: You have just been hired by the enemies of the last game you played, you must now fight a boss as you from the last game you played, you are now an NPC from the last game you played. Frankly it's getting really annoying.

I'm tired of the shitty goddamn threads that seem to have seeped in from 4Chan like "YOUR FINGER IS NOW A GUN, WHAT HAVE YOU SHOT?" and such other complete nonsense.

And any time I see the words "with a twist", I automatically ignore the thread because their twist is literally just going to be something rubbish like "A zombie comes into the room and you can only use what's to the left of you to fight it off. Oh, and the zombie's pink."

For a short while I also thought that if I ever saw another thread about Tali from Mass Effect 2 on these forums that I would personally hunt down and strangle the original poster.

I may be a bit of a hypocritical jerk here, but it kinda irks me to see the "Man today you'll never believe what happened..." threads. Like we can't just have certain unique experiences to reflect on. We have to jump online and tell people about it. Like "My teacher dumped water on this kid's head! Did this ever happen to you?" Type thing. I mean my math teacher would use a super soaker on kids that didn't pay attention in class. I feel I would make it a little less special if I went and made a topic about it. Now I understand if something drasic or really impactful happened. Yes, post that. Don't feel like just because something out of the ordaniry happened you need to post it and then save your self by "and for discussion did this happen to you?" at the end. *ahem* now while you did that at the end (kinda) OP you at least tied it to your discussion. Not giving us a narrative and attempting to save it at the end.

Personally, I hate poll threads. If your opinion on something can be summed up by clicking a button, it's not an opinion worth having.

Ask a question and I will answer. If you are exaggerating in a question then you should expect exaggerated responses.

Me thinks you need to take your own advice.

Anyway, a few that don't fall apart under " the scrutiny of logic": There are four eyes looking at me, break a leg, killing two birds in one stone throw.
