Anyway, you dont have to like anime to be a nerd. You dont even have to be a nerd. Its just a word these days. Or you can be somewhere in the middle, like me. I dont think of myself as not being a nerd, but I am also hesitant to say that I am a nerd. This is because I dont do much nerdly stuff besides video games, and even then I am still not one of those people who puts their entire weeks worth of money into new games before thinking that maybe they should have spent some of that money on food.

Otaku is japanese slang for a nerd (and has connotations they ther are a recluse) I think it comes for the honourifc form of "home", some western Japanophiles (WAAY into Japanese pop-culture, if you've never heard that term) will describe themselves as otaku. although in japan, I've heard it's not exactly a compliment.

i dont like it that much i watch it in spare time i need to get the terms down i only recently learned other weird janophiles terms like hentai and other things that make me feel shame to like anime it would be more main stream if it werent for weird people like them

I've never associated Anime with being a "nerd/geek" (why do people still use these words, those stereotypes barely exist anymore). Its simply a coincidence that a lot of use gamers and computer enthusiasts watch anime.

I do not like anime either. I never really got it. There were a lot of people in my high school who got together after school to discuss anime and the japanese culture. I guess theres a name for them now, weaboos, but I believe we called them the wapanese.
Yeah, I can honestly say I have never seen a anime cartoon all the way through without turning the channel. So, no, your not the only one.
Actually I take that back. I did watch Sailor Moon sometimes, but that was a rarity. But I don't even know enough about anime to know if Sailor Moon even IS anime, just not into it yo : P
