I recently asked a question in a computer forum, asking if the ezsidmv.dat file was harmful or not. I got raged at for not researching it, when I tried googling it, and couldn't find a solid answers, and my avast turned up nothing. So, is the person who raged at me right, am I and idiot? Or am I right for asking a question, when I could've researched it more?

An RTFM or similarly unhelpful response is usually signs of an idiot/ass. There are some in every crowd.

You weren't wrong. Sometimes information is harder for some to find on the Interblag than others. I for one can find movie news and gaming tips like nothing but can never find a good answer when I have a serious query.

Well, it is true that you should have tried to look it up some (I'm assuming you did), but that website is a computer forum, so that would be the place to ask people about it. Don't dwell on it too much. There are a-holes everywhere.
