"Amazing" Should be Banished From the English Language

I hate combinations of words that are used by stupid high school kids (and I was far more vocal about this in high school). Fugly, shmexy, anything like that. I feel like socking people in the face whenever they are uttered.

Agreed on baby bump, that phrase is terrible. But regarding some posts on here, I have no qualms about "google" being used as a verb. The word "sanction" and "table" came from nouns but are used as verbs, and I don't know whether or not "bandage" started as a noun or a verb first, but are currently used by both. That all is part of normal language evolution, in my opinion.

Man cave, if used by non-men, would be terrible. I'm glad I don't watch house-realty shows if they've really started using it.

I have to say this is a really stupid complaint. The word "Amazing" should be banned because it's been used several times in TV shows? No wonder that idea came out on a New Year's Eve party: everyone was drunk when they came up with it.

Of all the words which are far more overused, misunderstood and annoying they didn't mention even one (how about "Irony", which no one seems to know what it means yet everyone uses it?), but "Amazing" is so bad that the Spider-Man comics should be all burned, right? This is ridiculously unbelievable.
I'm guessing that irony has been on the list before. The "wrong use" of ironic has been in decline as of late. It's not nearly as bad as it was 3 or 4 years ago.

So much prescriptivism. Trying to ban words from a language is just ridiculous. I've studied linguistics enough to know that people are going to speak however they want as long as they live in anything but a draconian society. Over time, mistakes become so common that they aren't mistakes anymore. I've just come to accept that, because there really isn't anything anyone can do about it. Nobody speaks perfect prescriptive standard English.

I'm guilty over over-using 'Amazing'

And baby bump really annoys me. Can't say I've heard people say Man Cave, though!

'Reem' should be out-right BANNED

Am I the only one who doesn't have any idea what the article is saying? Amazing isn't used even close to often enough to be annoying, or at least around here. You know what annoys me? "Epic"

This article is downright awesome.
It is bound to have ginormic implications on the use of such epicailly amazing language.
I should really go to my man cave and contemplate the academic ramifications of such awesome work, and even if I fail at my contemplations at least I can get away from my wife and her baby bump.

Now excuse me, I have to go 'round back and take an arrow... To the head.

I say the same thing about "The Office"

(UK People: The one with Steve Carell, that for some reason gets nominated for "Best Comedy" at the Emmys every fucking year.)
Agreed. The Office was only good because of everyone else besides Steve Carell

The Office is awful. The fact that it gets nominated at The Emmys every year is astounding.

The Office, 30 Rock and Modern Family. Three shows that always get nominated for Best Comedy, but still have yet to do anything even remotely funny.
I enjoyed the early seasons of the office (US). I think it needs to get canceled now though.

can we ban people who want to ban things? "Amazing" is being used to exaggerate one's shock (thus correctly). It's not like the term "salty" being used as a synonym for "upset." Even then it's more just annoying than ban-worthy.
