American Idol.

So, i'm pounding my head against the sharp edge of my desk, hoping to brain damage myself enough to understand this.


Why does this show exsist? I am honestly asking this question and i'm looking for a serious answer. What is appealing? I have never heard of any of the American Idol winners after they win. They always make one album and fade into obscurity.. Am I wrong? Has ANY of the American Idols ever made a name for themselves?

Also.. Is there a British Idol?

The original one was called Pop Idol in Britain, but now we have X factor, and have you heard of Leona Lewis, or Kelly Clarkson? They both won X factor and American Idol respectively.

HAHA. Nah. Sick of being asked if I saw BGT last night or if i like Shaun Smith or that woman who everyone became obsessed with....I can't remember her name.
EDIT: Susan Boyle...it came to me just as I pressed post.

Programme's like that are just Simon Cowell's cash machines, he knows people will watch literally ANYTHING [look at the channels which show BB live] and like to laugh and mock people who fail.

Uhm yes. I think Girls Aloud *Shudder* came out of Popstars the rivals Or something dodgy like that.
The lead singer of Daughtry came out of American Idol (Y) They're good, well I think so.
Then there's some other terrible people who faded into non-existence after they released one single.

Also, Susan Boyle isn't news. Its the second time someone was outright laughed at for not being pretty and then ended up having more talent in one finger the judges collectively have amongst themselves.
