So a while ago watched (well half watched) 28 days and 28 weeks later

I acctually liked the first one, it was a little different (not american) and also uplifting in the end

so then came 28 weeks later, (in my opinion an unessicay seaquel) I dunno it felt a little more americanized (well there were americans in it...) it was more bleak and mabye it was somthing about the helicopters as well

so have you noticed americanization in other works (in that case being bad)

another shameful example is the ogininal mad max back in the day was dubbed with american accents (I mean really?)

theres also americanisation in real life

Asian horror films.

Why do they mess with something so awesome??? The only somewhat-decent Americanization of an Asian horror film I have seen is The Ring, and that was only somewhat-decent in that it stayed pretty well true to the original. But I'm glad Hollywood has stepped back from remaking them in the past one or two years. It was getting pretty ridiculous(ly bad) for a while.

Another movie by Danny Boyle, Sunshine, is a pretty good example. It's a British movie, but everyone speaks with an American "accent" to target more of an American audience.

well there are allot more American fast food restaurants and allot more American movies (atleast here in Europe) and some kids went trick or treating here in Europe even though that custom is mostly American
PS the trick or treating is espicialy weird considering a other holiday (st. Marten,s) where kids do pretty much the same thing as trick or treating but without the egging

As an American [sub][sub]and apparently the only one in this thread so far[/sub][/sub] I just want to say that I find Americanization of non-American movies to be very fucking lame. The majority of my favorite movies happen to be foreign movies. To me they feel like they have more substance and actually make me think.

No but seriously, it's very true, America has a terrible habit of remaking all things. Even those that do not belong to America to begin with. Asian horror films are a staple, British dramas as well (Life on Mars CANNOT work outside 70's Britain, did nobody realise that?)
We're also seeing more commercial re-releases of properties that the states really doesn't have any business in to begin with. There was a thread recently about how the states is aiming to remake AKIRA (as a PG, no less) and MovieBob has already commented on the new Smurfs film, despite the Smurfs being (to my recollection) from Belgium.

I rest assured only that here in the UK our main cinema events are brilliant new indie titles like Moon, and Monsters...

It is quite annoying, especially since the younger generation has been picking up American lingo from watching too much TV. For example, garbage, side-walk, elevator etc... I always make sure to correct them immediately but there's only so much I can do.

Halloween has nothing to do in Norway, we have NEVER celebrated it EVER before, and suddenly some kids show up on your door and wants candy or they'll throw eggs and shit at your windows... FUCK them. Next year I'm gona give them a trick alright... *evil laugh*

Really, it's pretty much the same here. Except, people don't trick or treat around here; they have all these parties that lets the girls dress up like whores (like they need a fucking excuse) and the guys like girls (which just boggles my mind).

OT: The USA is a big country and it's influence spreads wide, especially in the entertainment department. That's why Halloween spreads to other countries, because people see it on American TV shows and feel the need to copy it.

Sidewalk- Pavement, most usually

The worst kind of americanisation in films, and the one that is completely unforgivable, is in historical movies based on true events.
U-571 is the greatest offender of this in my opinion. Re-writing history to make it look like the americans were the real heroes. It was the Brits and the HMS Bulldog that captured the first Naval Enigma machine, not the americans because they hadn't even joined the war by that point. By the time america actually captured a machine of their own the Naval Enigma code was well and truly cracked.
They bastardised history to suit their own audience, and only after the major protests did they place a message at the end citing credit to the HMS Bulldog.

Americanising history is inexcusable.
