It's because the beer in America is watered down and dirt cheap.

I'm from canada but have dual citizenship. So it is kind of weird when I'm not allowed to buy in the states.

Miller Light FTW!!

Quite easily in my case, I really don't care much about alcohol. I honestly don't see why people would want to be in an altered state of consciousness. I have enough trouble paying attention as it is, and I don't need alcohol or drugs making it worse.

I didn't have a problem with it. Alcohol is an acquired taste and luckily, I didn't develop a taste for it until a year or so AFTER I turned 21.

Er, have you seen any news ever. Most Americans drink before 21! This thread is like wow how come drugs exist if they are illegal?

How do I cope with not being able to drink until 5 years from now?
It's best to have a general disdain for the taste of alcohol in the first place.
It's like bubbly bitter water. I could achieve the same taste with vinegar and Perrier for much less of the cost.
Mind you, doing so would be pointless. It all tastes like crap to me anyway.

Exactly. It doesn't really matter unless you get caught drinking, or doing really stupid things after drinking. The average reasonable person who does not have a problem with drinking in general, will tell you they think the drinking age should be 18 anyway.

Americans don't really have a huge drinking culture like in Australia (where the age is 18) and Germany (wehere the purchase of alcohol is restricted to 16 or 18 depending on what you're buying, but you can actually drink alcohol at any age). Every time I am around Americans they always comment like all my Australian friends are a bunch of complete alcoholics. Of course, they are, but that's just how it is. Most people here over legal age drink to get drunk and make no bones about it. "Responsible" drinkers do exist but are a minority.

So I can understand how Americans can cope with waiting till 21 because drinking isn't so important over there. People in America still like to drink, but there definitely isn't the same "culture of drunkenness", that's for damn sure. If they lifted the drinking age in Australia from 18 to 21 though, I'm certain there would be rioting.

I don't need alcohol to have fun. Parties CAN exist without booze. And if you need to get drunk to get girls than I feel sorry for you.
You won't be getting the RIGHT girls with beer goggles on.
A 459 pound girl may look like she's only 120 with beer goggles.
*shudders*
Exactly, lol. But I also meant that if someone needs alcohol to give them enough confidence to approach a girl, perhaps they should quit dating altogether.
Eh, this isn't quite right. It isn't that they appear to be more attractive than they actually are, it's just that you don't care as much. That's why one of alcohol's effects is listed as 'impaired judgment' instead of 'ridiculous hallucinations'.

We don't. By 15 years old, a lot of us drink regularly.

Well, you know what they say, "You don't need to drink to have fun."
And of course it's true.
Not to insult you, Berethond, but this reminds me of a joke I'd like to share: "If you hear someone say this to you, punch that **** in the head because he thinks he's better than you: 'I don't need to drink to have a good time.' " - Jim Jeffries

P.S. : I don't drink. I already have a lot of pent up anger that doesn't need to be bolstered by alcohol. Rational thought is what keeps me in control and prevents me from hurting myself or others. That's how I feel anyway.
