Americas Army (the game) in case you don't know (I think its on its second or third installment now) is a free fps produced by the American Military aimed at recruitment. What do you guys think of this? Wrong, right? We get recruitment adds from all other media sources, so why not video games? But, are they portraying War in bit to...unrealistic perspective might be the word.

Basic Question:Is it wrong to use video games as a recruitment campaign?

I don't think that the people playing the game are very serious. It seems like the Call of Duty community, kind of...

That may be, but the question is, is it wrong for a game like this to be used as a recruitment tool?

Well... As long as people know that it's just a game, and that war isn't really fun...

That game is trying to use real war teqnicues (sorry if spelled wrong) but fail. Still it's a nice game, have some good memories, nothing like CS. They use it to train soldiers to use tactics and stuff.

I understand why it makes people uneasy, but all Army advertising is aimed at youths. It strikes me as somewhat arbitrary to draw the line at video games.

I enjoyed playing America's Army (the first one) and I would be happy if someone showed up at my house and gave me a video game. Besides, I've already given a load of thought to joining the Military and I'm still somewhat undecided.

America's Army was a lot of fun. But a recruitment tool? I doubt it. There are much stronger forces for recruitment than a free video game.

My understanding is that AA is a PR tool, they do have a recruitment video game but only at recruitment centers.
