(SPOILERS for Wild Arms 5)
Though I felt the last Wild Arms game (for now, I hope) to be only middling at best compared to previous entries in the series, one of the plot points that caught my interest was Avril vent Fleur's dilemma. Though it's never really explored or expanded on after the 'vision quest' (disappointing), the truth is made quite clear by the current villain that the amnesiac woman who had been your comrade for the whole journey was, before losing her memory, the leader of the very faction of extremist near-human aliens you've been fighting, who fully deserved her nickname of 'Ice Queen'.
Sort of made me wonder what kind of interesting developments might be possible if other villains hit their head and suddenly developed a conscience, even if it is a Deus ex Machina if it happened out of the blue. Can they still be put to trial for all the awful things they did before? How will the heroes deal with this? What will the former villain do now, and can they be redeemed?
Which of your favourite villains do you imagine would create the most interesting plotline if they went through this?
