An animal you want to own! But obviously you can't....

A bunch; giant fruit bat, silver fox, barn owl, Eurasian eagle owl, clouded leopard, giant millipede, or giant sea louse. A headcrab or a Dead Space Lurker (i.e., tentacled zombie baby) would also be pretty awesome, but that goes without saying.

... Actually, you know what? Screw the Lurker; I want a damn Hive Mind. With one of those, I'd get all the Lurkers I want, anyway.

I'm going to limit myself to real, non-extinct animals, because it makes things more challenging. There's a lot of answers that seem cool, but would get old fast. Then, there are animals that wouldn't train well, and would, in reality, end in disaster. But I know something awesome, practical, very do-able as a pet, and still pretty much impossible to get. A Domesticated Fox. Google it. They are AWESOME.

A Gyrados. I'll call him Gregory.
Realistically: A human. There's so many breeds and colors! Not sure what I'd do with 'em but I know they'd be just like a sibling or something!

A tiger!
Or some kind of small furry, awesome animal that would fit my personality, so I could run around, telling people she's my dæmon! ;D
-Do I even wanna give out a cookie for that reference? ...I'll give one anyway ^^.

On another note, a dragon, a human, an umbreon, a sugar glider or a parrot named Polly would be very awesome.

If we're restricting our selves to real animals then it would be a ferret (frigging parents). But if we open things up to include non-real animals I'd want a mini dragon like the ones they pulled out of the bag in Harry Potter, only a little bigger.

My best friend is going to get me a griffin from Hogwarts. They are absolutely gorgeous creatures.

I have also always wanted a pegasus, but a black one, ala Clash of the Titans 2010.

To those who answered or are going to answer wolf: why are there so many of you?

Why do so many want an animal that, for all intents and purposes, fills the same pet niche as a dog but is, like, a fucking wild animal? It doesn't make a pet nobler and holier than a run-of-the-mill domesticated specimen, it means that it's far less interested in you or what you do, is far harder to train not to maul you, has a far stronger fight-or-flight response, has a more specific and demanding diet and enclosure requirements, is easier to stress out and go apeshit, is harder and more costly to get proper vet treatment and equipment for, is far more unforgiving a pet if you mess up with the treatment, and just generally brings you far more obligations and enables far less creativity than the domesticated version.

Just... Why? What's the appeal? I understand the concept of challenge, but there are more responsible ways of experiencing a challenge than taking in a high-risk animal.

A moose. And a custom moose-saddle.

Also I would like it if the moose's horns were made from adamantium. Would make charghing through things much easier.

I already have a cat and a frog, so nothing, really.

Any animal bigger than a cat has too much shit to clean up, in my opinion.

I want a dingo.
The Dingo ate my baby

I would like a giant swimming pool with a shark. I need it for my evil lair
Isn't it a crime to mention dingo's eating babies in Australian, even just mentioning...??

lol
