Well, a few days ago, me and the crew gathered for our monthy dice off.
Our rules are quite different from standard D&D, in several areas.

One of the biggest changes we have is our critical failure system. Normally, rolling a 1 should be a miss.
But in our rules ((because it makes things funny hur hur)) is that if you roll a 1, you must roll a saving throw to see if you can fail at failing. (( I.E. trip on your sword and not landing on it.))
If you roll less then a 3 ((on 1d6)) you "succeed at failing." ((I.E. Triping on your sword, and fail at not landing on it.))
This tends to make things funny when facing a foe.

Picture this. My fighter runs full speed at the succubus, gaurding her treasure. I fail my will roll, but because of my special ability ((one of the many we decided on)) my characters poor weapon skill ((and massive girth)) allows him to still take a swing. My other ability ((one of the many we decided on)) allows me to make 2 extra swings at half strength if i fail a saving, will, or dexerity roll.

I rolled once, and got a 1 on my saving throw. I deal 1d6 damage to myself because i smack my knee with the flat of my blade. Because i failed my saving throw, i take another "accidental" swing. i roll another 1, and then another 1 for my saving throw. I lop off 4 of the toes on my left foot for 1d4 ((i rolled a friggan 4 Dx)). And because of my skill, i take one final, completely unneeded swing, which i roll another 1 on.

COME ON!! I roll my saving throw.

......... a 1....... My character lets go of his blade in the intoxicated stupor, and it goes flying off in a random direction, but because of the enchantment on the blade, i can roll to see if it automatically returns to my character. ((2d6 equal to, or greather then 9)). I roll and i get a perfict 12. It returns to my character ((which i wish it hadent)) and peirced clean through his neck trying to enter its sheath. (( for another 2 damage))

I die a horrible, self inflicted, completely accidental death at the hands of my own blade ((and stupidity)).

Anyone have a horrible miss adventure half as bad as that?
Feel free to share your failures. I wong lol. much.

D&D thread? Ok.

Me and my buddies get together for some D&D every Wednesday and we also play by a different set of rules. For instance, we've got a Pirate. This Pirate has a gun which, while he can attack twice with it, he has to roll to see if it backfires on his second attack. He always attacks twice. His luck is horrid, so he will commonly backfire. Thus far, the most damage he's suffered has been from himself and he's knocked himself unconscious twice now. I truly can't wait till he flat out kills himself.

Man this reminds me of M.E.R.P.S. and its epic critical failure/critical hit tables. My first character cut his own arm off in a minor skirmish ten minutes into the game. The DM decided he could survive but I had sunk a bunch of skill points into polearms.
