Now I've been around the block a few times(The block being The Escapist) and I've jotted down a few things I've noticed in threads and decided to put them together and create this magical guide to help you make a successful thread. (Btw we need this)

1. Use proper grammar.
Now no one on this website is going to care about what you say unless it is has proper grammar. Yes I know there is a series on here about having no punctuation but that doesn't mean you can start threads like this "hey gis(guys)hal0 too(2)is da bomb."
2. No Vs Threads.
As a Greek man once said "debating is natural to humans." Now he was right, but that doesn't mean create vs. threads because they always end bad and a good bunch of members get banned.
3. Create a interesting topic
For example something to do with Australia because every Australian based thread goes well.
4. Don't be a jerk face
Seriously when creating a thread, NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER(I just shouted never)create it just to be a jerk face or to piss someone off you will be banned or suspended.
5. Don't act high and mighty
When you create a thread don't try to act like your the biggest superstar on here. I've seen threads where a fellow put the title as "Who is (user's name)" And created the entire thread about himself.
6. Be careful what you put in thread.
Example: if your in a band and you just made a video don't post it up as a thread. That counts as advertising. Advertising is illegal in threads :p
7. Relate it to music
Specifically metal. A majority of the Escapist(NOT INCLUDING MYSELF) seems to enjoy a variety of metal.
8. Relate it to a Television Show.
Anime is a good example. Cause LOTS of The Escapist Members love anime.
9. When adding a poll don't put a stupid answer for it.
Seriously "waffles?"
10. Be A good sport.
Escapist Legends like NeonBob, Pimppeter2, and Furburt are all good examples. Whenever a debate was about to start these fellas stopped them.

Thank You for your time. Happy Posting :D

12. Never annoy me.
13. Never listen to souplex...And always point out he has no nose.
14. Never talk about rule 15
15. Rule 14 is a lie.

I am posting. Quite happily, in fact.

In other news, the guide was good, I'll definitely try to keep it in mind when I make threads. Mine tend to be a bit less than stellar.

17. We are Anonymous.
Wait, no we aren't...

Also, I have high suspicions that Pimppeter's account has been hacked. I need more confirmation...

You're right. Which is why we have the user guidelines [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.116827-These-forums-and-you-Forum-Posting-Guidelines]. Everything you said is already in there, and more. I wonder how many people have actually read the guidelines. This is the second time I've seen someone make a thread covering something already adressed by the guidelines.

Better luck next time.

See I disagree with this entirely. Creating a thread entirely to get a large amount of responses isn't really the point of a forum. The point is to provoke discussion and raise some interesting points.

A thread about metal music is basically just a load of people telling everyone about what their favourite band is. They tend to be low value threads.

Oh hey, a veteran Escapist user has taken an immense amount of time to craft a comical yet informative guide for new members.

Oh wait, I must have been thinking of someone [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.151264-How-to-make-a-successful-thread-and-win-friends] else [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.149941-Creating-an-Awesome-Thread-hint-It-does-not-involve-Halo#3510071]. This is a list thread.

Man, there's no nice way to say the other thing I want to say about who around here are worthy people to idolize, so I'll add that I agree with xmetatronx and also say just generally that post counts aren't worth crap.

I love the fact that in your proper grammar clause, you have incorrect grammar. It should look like this:

Just because I can...

Also, Internet Kraken beat me to the comment about the User Guidelines.

I find it coincidental that OP breaks the following

1. Use proper grammar.
by using "your" in place of "you're." By the rules put in place of this thread, this thread should not be successful. Hmmm....

[sub][sub][sub]Why, yes, I do support the Third Grammatical Reich. Why do you ask?[/sub][/sub][/sub]

That's even more suspicious. What you've been doing is saying completely off-topic replies in a manner I know Pimppeter definitely wouldn't.

Rule 18:
Quote Memes constantly and always try to accompany posts with pictures of lolcats or failblog. Also post Rick Astley when asked about music.

Adding pointless options are actually favoured by quite a lot of us.

Including me.
