You salvage ships. Essentially, you take your ship to derelict spacecraft and salvage whatever you can. Combat is not a focus of this game. Your ship is more
equipped with flying under the radar instead of weapons. You carry guns on you for protection, plus killin any survivors if need be.

You strip everything of value that you can carry. With this money, you gain better shields and equipment allowing you to fly further and into more dangerous locations to get
the best salvage possible. You collect enough to get a pretty damn fine ship and crew.

Then you come across a wreck about halfway through the game that appears to be.....melting. Realizing that you've been out of Lsd for a week, you know this can't be good. Seems this ship was carrying precious cargo. You've heard in the news that a top secret government ship was ambushed by a large fleet. Able to flee from the battle, the ship appears intact. They've been searching for this ship near a week now.

Sometimes I just write. I was watching Firefly, Bushwhacked, when i thought of salvaging being the main goal of a game.
So 2 questions, if you would.
Please tell me what you think,

And more importantly, I'm looking for any game that sounds similar to this. I'm sure it's been done to some extent, And I'd really like to play it.

It could work, but it lacks any real direction - Add in roaming around the wrecks manually deconstructing it (As in, in person, not with mech arms or something) and itd be much better

Not a bad concept

That sounds like something I could get into. Sadly I don't think such a game like this exists, yet.

I like the first half although the second part I'd recommend that you were actively searching for that ship, working against time and other competing salvage crews instead of finding it randomly and then realizing it was the same one from the news broadcast (or was that what you had in mind?).

To be honest, I wrote the thing on the spot. If i redid it, i could make a full story. Even write a book.

I like extensive plots, not ones that get bogged down by looking for something. Keeping the story going, so i like the fact you find it in the middle of the game.

I honestly wanted to know if a game like this exists, the rest was just an explanation of what I was looking for.

Ooksht, space pirating. That's a completely new concept, if it was done like a cross between Deus Ex and the Thief series, I would fucking love it.

However, it needs a really good storyline to go along with it. It's that sort of game where if anything is done wrong, it could bring the game down a fair bit.

I can just imagine that, how awesome...

There's a really old game called Star Control 2 that was vaguely like this. It was like a more flexible version of Mass Effect really. Even had a blackhole and a huge ruin of a ship on the other side (this ship was the size of a galaxy or a planet at least.. it was hoooge).

Sounds kinda like Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, but that was more focused upon the space fighting. you had to nick stuff then either sell it or try to build something useful out of it. it did have the idea of salvaging goods, but not so much guns and stuff.

hmmm....picked that game up a long time ago for the pc, but I couldn't get it to work with a mouse and keyboard. Perhaps I shall try it again.

Something along the lines of Fallout: EVE then. Sounds quite interesting actually.

honestly, this sounds like it would get pretty boring :\ but i like the idea of thinking outside the box, thinking of game ideas that donot revolve around killing (killing is often fun, but we need some fresh ideas)

Well, there's a lot more that i could add to it. The basic concept interests me though.
