I've seen this sort thread before but hey it's a good topic.

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with The Slender man. If you have never heard of him before, You have now.

watch this, Warning: Nightmare fuel

The the basic premise for the game would be that you are alone in a forest (or an equally cliche horror setting)and the slender man is after you. I would have much in the style of Amnesia since that game nails the feeling of dread and helplessness that slender man bears to those he chooses to stalk.

Let me know what you think of this Not very original concept, would you play it, Is it a good idea

Or if you want to rant about how much you hate me now that I've introduced you to the slender man, feel free.

I've not played Amnesia but I know of Slender man and while he seems like the type of thing you'd find as an easter egg in game by Rockstar, an interactive version of Marble Hornets could be very creepy. The game would have to realise that the less you see of a monster, the scarier it is.

The slender man seems too internet meme-ish for me to be intimidated by. He's not even that scary, just some weirdo with long arms I could kill if I got my hands on a big enough stick. Maybe something with a more intimidating and original monster would be better.

Someone else has already made a thread about the exact same idea and premise. People quickly pointed out how bad an idea it was.

I have known about him for a while now, I'm not the scaredy cat i used to be. Ive become quite desensitized towards him but every now and then i feel the urge to look over my shoulder

I've never been afraid of the slender man. The idea of him just isn't all that scary, and the idea of an entire game where all you do is run away through a forest from a single enemy doesn't seem all that interesting.

I just... can't get scared by slenderman after seeing the parody of marble hornets where they replace the audio with the guy who yells at his cats. Probably won't grab me.

I think the Slender Man character would be an interesting antagonist for a game, or at least portions of a game.
He would be placed randomly around large, non-linear, and maze-like levels wherein you have some objectives to fulfill in order to escape, and some of the objectives would run the risk of attracting his attention.
So as he doesn't get stuck in some random closed off room, he would be similar to the Wandering Witch from Left 4 Dead 2 in that he'll spawn in a random area and walk around a bit, sometimes too close to objectives, causing you to wait for him to move away. He would also have the power of teleportation (disappearing from a previous area and appearing in some other area) but for immersion's sake the player will not actually witness the process.
Taking inspiration from Marble Hornets, the idea would be that you don't want him to see you (duh) but at the same time getting a good look at him would be an equally bad idea. In the occasion that either would occur you have mere seconds to break his or your line of sight and get to somewhere safe to hide before he incapacitates you (via sight as usual).
It would be an interesting game mechanic.

He knows you... Now.

OT: the same idea was thrown out a while ago, and, iirc, slender man mainly kills children.

This kinda stopped all fear I had for Slender man.

I'll be honest, a part of me would love to see a Slendy game. While the logical part of me is saying that it wouldn't be the greatest idea seeing how horror games have gone down in these last few years and if not done correctly, it would be unscary and stupid as hell.
...
Actually, I just thought of Slendy and Pyramid Head teaming up and stalking the hell out of people then they go for coffee. Fuck that shit, I wanna see that!

Slenderman would make a great game, I can imagine having to find supplies like a torch, batteries and stuff to survive while constantly being followed. There could be bits where you have to hack your way through some dense woody-bush stuff with an axe to escape from him. They don't make enough games like that anymore. I'll have to try out Amnesia :D

Also Slenderman isn't as scary as everyone seems to think. Mabye that's just me but normally this kind of thing really freaks me out.

It'd pretty much be prototype all over again if you played as slendy (only less emo talk/skydiving and more child eating/molesting) and were you playing the unfortunate victim then it'd would probably be a cross between the bad parts of "amnesia" and the even worse parts of that on the rails "the grudge" wii game. Mind you it be fun making slender man walk around and around in a circle possibly jumping repeatedly just 'cause☺ of the mental image. almost as funny as the splendorman people spoofing him tapdancing.

Depends on which Slender Man we're talking about. I've only seen a handful of Marble Hornets, but the Slender Man in Marble Hornets is a lot tamer than what Slender Man started out as. Marble Hornets Slender Man just seems like a creepy looking stalker. Slender Man before Marble Hornets is a monster that kidnaps children and young adults for an unknown reason and makes anyone who comes after him disappear. It can quickly stretch its limbs to impossible lengths to confuse, pursue, and capture. It also has many back tendrils it bends to look like tree branches to blend into forest areas. Because of this feature it's suspected Slender Man is forest spirit or demon. However, no one lives long enough to confirm this.

Then how do they know about him?

still Slender Man alone wouldn't be enough for a game now if you were to collect a bunch of urban legends put them into a city and provide the necessary locations for each one where you play as a guy or girl investigating why this city is in that state and as you investigate you discover more about the history of the city and its inhabitants and more importantly about yourself

I kinda lost any terror I had of the Slender Man after that video I saw on Youtube of cheap cartoon versions of Bakura and Marik from Yu-Gi-Oh with a cartoon Slender Man popping in with incessant "can I be in the movie?" with an incredibly dumb-sounding voice.

But I think the basic premise would easily work. It kind of reminds me of some game I heard of a while ago now, which is kind of like a dark game version of Little Red Riding Hood. I remember how much that shit freaked me out.
