The res of the world would be fucked and fall into a massive state of war. We are the supreme nuclear power in the world and the one prevent North Korea from invading South Korea. As soon as they were successful with that every country that has had their eye on their neighbors land would follow suit. Asia would devolve into a cluster fuck with one or two major new powers rising out. Most likely China and/or Korea.

South Korea has a more powerful conventional military than the North and North Korea isn't the only nuclear power in the world. Not our concern anymore though.

Well, we'd all be pretty much screwed, since America is probably the only thing stopping China, Russia, or some other superpower from taking over the rest of the world. As much as I disagree with certain parts of American Culture, the USA as a whole does a lot more good than bad for the rest of the world, in many, many ways. Anyone who really hates America altogether, or American people in general is just ignorant. Sure, there are a lot of jokes at the expense of America, but that doesn't mean people really don't like the USA.

You are removing a major super-power from the world entirely. This would cause a global economic collapse. Besides, there is no way legislation like this would ever get passed in Congress. Even if it did the Supreme Court would rule it unconstitutional. The government doesn't have the rights or the resources for a mass transit of everyone in the US even if they did have teleportation.

The point of this thread is that the United States just disappears and stops intervening in the rest of the worlds affairs and we get left alone on our nice little planet. What happens next? If you are an American you discuss what happens next on Planet America and if you aren't then you discuss what happens with the rest of the world.

Within 24 hours of "Teleporting", after everyone has woken up with a hangover from the mis-guided "Fuck you World!" party, they will IMMEDIATELY hit the streets, protesting about why Steve Jobs canceled the iPhone 5 and iPad elventy-four, after having lost contact with the Chinese manufacturers.

Software companies would go bankrupt without the cheap labor from Indian software outsourcing companies doing all the hard work for them.

Playstation owners would start wreaking havoc once they Lose connection to PSN servers in Japan...... oh wait.

Yeah. I don't think America in and of itself can perfect interstellar and teleporting travel like that. Even if so, I don't think that the US can keep this kind of technological advancements from ALL non-americans. Someone'll pick it up, either after or before your grand teleportation. So your fabled Alpha Centauri won't be just reachable by any US citizens.

I also don't think it's legal to claim a stake on a planet like that. I remember having read that no person, government or corperation can own an extra terrestrial body. So if this happens; interstellar war I would break out and since the globe America's been teleported to isn't Earth it'll get nuked to hell. Insurgents would apply for US citizenship and afterwards bring back either intel or go all 'terrorist' over there on AC.

What I would do? Wait for the bombs to drop on Earth, since USA is on another world and they wouldn't give a crap about this one either.

And that's exactly the attitude which gives Americans a (not entirely deservedly) bad name around the world.

As to your original point, I think the fact that you have to keep adding rules and complaining about our involvement with "minor points" (on both sides of the portal, no less) suggests that the scenario wasn't particularly well thought-out to begin with. Kudos for trying, though - it makes a change from HalfLife hate threads and platform flamewars.

And it's no less plausible than many ill-conceived film and game plots.
