I was talking with my Dad a couple of days ago. We were talking about my job search. I told him that I had applied at Busch Gardens (A local theme park with animal attractions) and we were considering which jobs were available there. I thought about which job was the worst. We came to the conclusion that cleaning up the elephant habitat would be the worst job there. Then I came to amazing realization! You would need to have someone with animal training to clean up. I don't have that training, that means I'm not qualified for that job. I'm not qualified to clean up shit! Wow.

That's good for you. You won't get the worst job there. Congratulations.

Congratulations! You'll probably end up cleaning up after the people, which would be almost as bad. Or you'll be a mascot, which I hear isn't as bad of a job.

Is it shit job to shovel shit?
Work is work...
But having skills to control the animal if it starts doing something are good to have.

Pretty sure they don't actually 'sweep' it up so much as 'pour a powdery chemical on it' that makes most of it dissolve and than spray the area with a big ass hose occasionally. My twin brother worked for the Zoo (in the consession stands) for like two summers and the people that clean up the poo are mostly interns/grad students who are biology majors or something like that.

Correction, your not qualified to clean up animal shit. There are still fields where you would be allowed to clean up human shit.

This is very true- there is immensely high competition to work at any animal attractions, if you're lucky, the positions you would get would probably be limited to selling food or drinks, and even then, if it is a well known park, they would probably at least want a hospitality certificate of some kind. You need at least a degree in one of the biological sciences/applied sciences with a wildlife biology, zoology etc major to work with any of the animals, and the poop scoopers are most likely interns, university students, relatives of park owners or those with animal husbandry tafe degree. (again, this is true of large animal parks/ wildlife sanctuaries in Australia, I don't know the exact story of the place you are applying or what qualifications / contacts you have).

If Mike Rowe can do it, there's nothing that should be stopping you from doing it.
