Internet games you mean? Try Boxhead for some multiplayer fun. Make sure it's the multiplayer version though.

Take a look at the Alt + Escape articles on this site. They've got fun flash games, handpicked by Escapist Staff.

I can't think of any games at the moment, but try looking around on Kongregate. It has some fun games.

OH! Get Project 64, an N64 emulator, get Mario Kart and you're set for some fun... Don't look at me like that... Alright fine, I wasted plenty of time in school. That or we used to play Civilisation 2, LAN it to computers and have lots of players in one game... I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to where you can download stuff from, so send me a PM and I'll send you the link.

Mud and Blood 2 is fun. It's a mildly efficient time killer, if you enjoy tactics and singleplayer.

Quake Live?
Seconded.

There was another pretty decent browser fps called Phosphor or something, and it was more browser based then quake. ie no client downloads, just shockwave.

Used to have big Age of Empires and Quake LAN games at college during free periods. Every comp in the college was networked to every other without any real strong security - the potential was mindblowing - although we didn't have access to every room to upload the files to every PC lol.

Depends on how secure the network your college/school runs is in terms of playing LAN stuff.

If it's just single player flash type stuff then I'd go with what another poster said and look at the Alt + Escape section of the site recommends, can waste a good little while. Yahtzee's own Art of Theft is pretty fun old skool gaming as well
